I find it bizarre AC isn’t a thing over there. Anyway, make some hillbilly AC’s and you’ll be fine. Our power was off on a 110°F day last summer. Made a few hillbilly AC’s and did fine. They actually work lol.

It feels way hotter in UK than it actually says srs. It is all to do with humidity and our old concrete walls absorbing the heat making it feel like sauna during these heatwaves srs. Also doesnt help that we don't have air cons anywhere.

My American friends from Austin who came to London recently said it's almost unbearable as well. Better up north tho

1. We live in a cold & damp climate-our bodies aren't used to heat & we literally go from 18 to 28 in a day, there is no 1 or 2 degree gradual increase to get your body more used to it.

2. Our houses are built differently due to our cold climate-they are designed to absorb heat.

3. Air Con is not really a thing here.

4. Coastal areas like where I live have stifling humidity that makes the heat a lot worse.

5. 37-40 degrees might be pretty normal for you, but here it is the hottest weather in history-that is the difference between the two countries.

Thank fuk I don't work for a poor stuffy company anymore. Company was a typical manufacturing company where no money got spoent unless it was a big CNC machine so zero air con. Forced to go in and wear a suit and tie despite not meeting clients with inside temp being 33deg ffs.

People complained on health and safety grounds with thermometers in the office and they said UK law on specifies a lower limit (16deg). Absolute kents.

Can remember the heatwave of 2018-my mother was in hospital & it was like being in a battlefield. Gurneys everywhere in the corridors with the sick unable to get rooms, everybody including staff on the point of collapse from the crazy heat & so many bodies creating more.

As a Brit (but not living in England), it's retarded that most UK homes don't have AC. It's still based on temperatures from the 1970s or something. Never going through another summer without AC. Whoever invented it deserves a Nobel prize.

Before my time but I guess that was a freak one off. Summers are generally much hotter now year on year and it makes sense that AC is standard. Brits have the attitude that it's not worth it as there are only a few days in summer that are really hot. I don't know though, I can't stand the heat and would always want AC.

Whatever you think about UK sloots, I will say that (especially in the north) they are some of the most dedicated sloots imaginable. Will go out in freezing temps basically wearing nothing, relying only on copious amounts of alcohol to keep them warm. Hardy as fukk.

I was born that year & the summers were usually hotter in the 1980's & 1990's-more sun than the modern times. I have found other than 2018 the summers to be pretty mediocre for the last 15 years or so & the winters very mild. Only 2 weeks ago today on my early Saturday shopping trip I had to wear my winter coat & gloves it was so cold.

I was born a year later and have lots of memories of playing in deepi snow during winters. Doesn't seem to happen much anymore.

I do find it funny that US and Aussie brahs laugh at us when it gets to 38C. You guys have to understand though that is somethingi that most Brits haven't experienced. Knowing the average Brit, if they manage to get the day off work they'll head straight for the beach and get heatstroke lol.

That was a killer. I recall it as being three or so weeks of 30C with no rain. The grass was yellow and dead EVERYWHERE. I slept on top of the sheets at night the whole time and was shirtless whilst at home the whole time.

Not looking forward to the 38C expected for Tuesday, although the SE tends to get hit the worst. Up North they are probably laughing, it is only 16C in Scotland today and probably will barely pass 30 on Tuesday.

its like a fuken beach. we're like the only trade without a canopy or something

most wear long sleeves for sun protection too

humidity in florida makes it feel like 105-110. few days ive been in the car pulling away from the site in more shade and it's said 98 degrees farenheit

in fact, even right now, almost a day later my skin still feels hot in the a/c

i could see how people used to a moderate climate could get fuked though
