Was just nearly attacked by a golden retriever (srs)

edit: think it was actually a light coloured Labrador Retriever after looking at pics. Didn't know there was a difference.

I have never in my life had a dog try to attack me on the street.

Was going for a walk on a sunny day, was walking home from 7-11, and when I was almost home in a residential neighbourhood a golden retriever ran toward me from someone's backyard, started bearing its teeth more aggressively than I've ever seen, was lunging toward me over and over and the only reason it wasn't able to bite me is I kept waving my 7-11 bag full of chips in front of its face like a matador (this was after it lunged at me the 1st time).

The dumb ass female owner came out and yelled at it. I told her off. If it ever does that **** again, I'm going to stab it (I usually keep a pocket knife on me). There are small kids in this neighbourhood as well as people who walk their small dogs. My neighbours small dog was almost killed by the previous dumb ass owner of the same house who left his American Bulldog on the driveway off leash.

Thought it was interesting with all the talk about pitt bulls and joking about them being golden retrievers on this forum. As I said, I have never experienced this type of aggression from any other dog.

I don't own any dogs. I have family members who have chihuahuas, a yorkie, a pug, and a king charles spaniel.

lol. I'm white btw. I'm not saying that pit bulls aren't much more aggressive on average. I don't see hardly any over here. I think they are more common in the US (I'm Canadian).

Wasn't a pit. Although I did just do some research and it is much more likely to have been a Labrador Retriever. I didn't know there was an actual difference. I have always thought any light shade lab is a golden retriever, but I don't know my dogs apparently.

Looked like the one on the left with short hair (Labrador Retriever). Not like the one on the right (Golden Retriever).

Actually looked very similar to this one, 2nd from the right:

Very vicious Golden and Labrador Retrievers actually quite often attempt to lick people to death.

Be forewarned.
