Went to US for the first time - not impressed brehs
So I went to the US for the first time. I went to South bends and Chicago.
Holy **** what a dump. My notes:
- Most ghetto mcdonalds i've ever been to in my life, druggies pitbulls, food taste weird af
- Everyone obsessed with guns
- All the infrastructure looks knakered, rusty old and honestly the outskirts of Chicago reminded me of mad Max.
- Chicago centre looks cool, but stinks of sewage and weed.
- Food is chit, really shocked at how low quality the food was, food in the UK is much better.
- Trucks were huge, cars in general were big.
- Chicago centre had a lot more fit people and normal people around.
- Policeman i randomly spoke too told me to turn back because the area i was walking into was very dangerous.
- Black people very different to the UK. Black people in the UK relatively normal, in the US, seems angry aggresive and super loud.
- I thought America was meant to be cheap, but not really.
All in all, not imrpessed ameribrahs. Glad to be back in the UK.
Plannning a trip to the South next.

There's lots of beautiful and diverse landscapes in the USA. However, there are a lot of dumps and the USA has the dumbest dumb people ever. I went to California and did beach, mountains, and desert in one day. Really nice experience. Unfortunately, the people wereverystrange.

chicago is probably the third biggest draw for foreigners after LA/NYC. Nobody goes to the uk to see Birmingham or Leeds. Its London, Edinburgh, maybe glasgow, manchester, oxbridge etc.. Brum and Leeds arent on the list

The US is simply too big and diverse to judge from one visit. Even a state California is way too diverse to judge from visit.
You'd have to spend years in California and do road trips non stop to even understand the different parts of California.
To actually explore and get to know a good chuck of the US, you'd literally have to do road trips for your entire life exploring the US.
You can Explore Rhode Island on a 2 week vacation if your spend every waking hour exploring, but not most states let alone the whole US.
This is an area you should explore instead next time.

Your entire country fits in Texas, and you think you can draw any meaningful conclusions from visiting one city in one state?

Chicago's a great city, you just have to know where to go. The people are generally pretty awful, but they're better than New Yorkers.
