Damn, I wanna try living in Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea or Japan srs

All 4 do not provide significantly inferior socioeconomics compared to UK USA etc although many possible benefits.

Has any one here tried?

I am thinking of getting my UK passport in Oct this year and then trying to move in of these.

Problem is Korea or Japan are probably out of the question as professional corporate jobs there really do prefer speaking the language (so without switching careers to international school teacher probably wont work). Whereas in SG, HK job market is smaller but English is used.

Singapore would be goat if it wasn't so fkn hot/humid and the people there seem generally pretty boring/pretentious/money-driven, it's also a somewhat boring place

HK is the most expensive city to live in as an expat, make sure you allocate a lot for rent. On the plus side, noodles and public transport is cheap.

Singapore would be amazing.

Japan has a chit working culture (deference to boss, fck that chit).

HK is becoming less appealing. A lot of locals are moving out. The freedoms are being squeezed…

If your plan is to be an English teacher just go there and get your own students, you'll make 5x as much. I did that in my youth in a few places

Working for a school would suck. lol at going overseas to be a wageslave for poverty pay

Dad lived and worked in Japan as an expat, he said the culture is ruthless and just totally unbalanced and unhealthy. I'd avoid the place for an actual career, this is no way they are going to promote u over a local high IQ incel willing to work 18 hrs a day

I'd probably go to Singapore for a while and then get back to the west. All those countries have literally no economic mobility as a workercel, btw

As mentioned already, Hong Kong is expensive as fuk to live in. I will say it was BY FAR my favorite port visit when I was in the Navy though... besides how expensive it is, it seems like living there would just be a pretty big head ache in general. Awesome place to visit though at least.

I wouldnt want to live in HK longterm and I've been many many times. The whole place is just like a city, and everything is small even like 5 star hotel rooms. If you're staying longer term you'll get an apartment, and most apartments are old as fuk and tiny.

Hong Kong's interesting in that every Filipino there is like a maid/servant and they all have Sundays off and just hangout on the streets, don't think many countries have a race divide like that anymore.

Pretty sure in these places mentioned you wont get work unless its an English teacher or something highly specialized-Eastern countries don't tend to hire foreigners for jobs a local can do. Having said that you may have a better chance in Singapore seeing as its a multicultural nation

Been to HK 5 times, Japan 4 times, Korea once and Singapore once. I'd live in Japan or Korear in a heartbeat SRS. My company has positions in Japan that I might consider in the future. Getting a job transfer is probably the easiest way to get into those countries. HK used to be dope but now it's basically communist China. Singapore was cool and very very clean but if you're not rich, there's not really a point. The laws there are super strict and like someone said, hot/humid as Hell

SG or HK is your best bet, if you go to tokyo you'll probably just be a translating and doing pitchbooks, modelling and not speaking to clients etc.

if you intend to live there for long, you'll need clients.

SG is hard now, everyone is leaving HK to go to SG. but forget going to SG unless you can get a visa. it's tight as fuk now with very high demand

opportunity is algo trading platform product management (so mostly tech) not IBD

IBD or client facing markets work is impossible without the language, even in HK you would need Cantonese for that

my logic is simply that company internal transfer would be easy under a big name with a large geo-span

I know a guy who worked for the same in London for a year with the exact same academic credentials as me (but he worked in cyber security) and successfully went there
