Went golfing the other day in 95F and humid as fuark and when the breeze wasn't blowing that chit was pretty close to unbearable. Couldn't imagine 110-120F all day working.

I live in Vegas. Went to the driving range to hit some golf balls mid day. It was 109. It's definitely believable how someone would collapse. Freaking miserable

The reason people have a tough time in heat is because they aren't used to it. UPS drivers are. If they had or have an issue with it they wouldn't be one.

Ask any UPS driver and they'll say, yea you get used it.

So until you're throwing 100+ 10-60lbs packages into their arms in 100 degree high humidity weather and they aren't complaining, then don't tell me about short sighted lol.

I find it funny how everyone now suddenly cares for UPS drivers, think they understand what they do, but don't work with them or never have, and yet I'm the idiot for pointing out this guy is just being dramatic and didn't hydrate properly. All these guys know this.

I couldn't imagine this guy driving for us and doing our warehouse route in -20. This guy would die the first hour.

but there's so many other factors to take into consideration that you're ignoring. What if he's new on the job? Maybe he was taught in the winter and this is his first run in the summer.

You even said yourself. "IF" you're prepared, what if he wasn't prepared? It would certainly negate this idea that he was "faking it". That is very much heat exhaustion. I saw a handful of cases every summer when I worked in a Trauma ER in New Mexico, and to anyones surprise most of the victims were coming in wearing work clothes (tradies).

Man, when I worked at UPS they had these electrolyte ice pops. Cheery and Lime Green ones were the best. This guy should have gotten two of them. By the time you did get them they were melted though lol. We also had a ice machine. I hope he's okay and it wasn't any other serious medical issue other than lack of hydration.

Absolute clowns. These guys do this every year in Texas and Arizona, right? If he was prone to heat strokes, he wouldn't be sent out. Our current driver is one a 2 week leave and doing a different job for a back issue. They won't let you drive if you aren't physically up to it or if you have underlying health issues. You most likely wouldn't be a driver anyways if you're that fragile.

You also realize this isn't common, right? If fat black women for USPS can deal with this chit, then a skinny white guy who keeps a cooler in his truck would be okay.

This all has happened so much over the years and OSHA and UPS have had to take extra steps over time. All the whining from drivers are the pansies. Of course it sucks. It sucks in the cold too. I don't hear them whining the rest of the time when they get to finish work early and have easy days and still make 90k a year.

I forgot everyone knows how UPS works now too.

Why aren't you brahs making threads about the UPS guys unloading trailers all day? The warehouses aren't AC either and those trailers are legit ovens. Or is it because you don't have some video of a guy being a pansie to make a thread about it.

Yes, it's hot. Wow how did the world ever get things done in this weather we have yearly?

Please tell me why every driver isn't dropping like flies or every warehouse worker isn't have major health issues then? Most of these guys work every year. They make great money and have great benefits. Most days they finish early and get paid for their routes still. There's a reason they do these jobs despite some of the weeks of "bad weather."

And yes, you get used to. The problem is you're viewing this from the comfort of an office with AC. So of course this seems extreme for you. Literally none of our drivers complain about it. They're the one's that tell you they're used it. My UPS drivers do way more work than the typical ones and are in their trailer part much longer.

Did you guys make a thread for them during the freezing weather days too?

Most of you guys calling me insensitive or retarded have never even talked to a UPS guy, offered him a drink/s in this weather, nor asked them what they think of their conditions.

I used to hike in triple digit heat, once reaching 116. And this was humid Missouri weather. Even as a fat guy it was tolerable but this was when I was getting into prime 30s shape. I hear dry heat is much better but I've never experienced it.

Worst job was as a loader/unloader at UPS where you were told to bring a frozen gallon of water to work.

idk how it could get hotter than where i am. florida. literally at 7am in the morning just standing outside for 10 to 15 minutes my shirt is soaked

the heat is relentless. wearing long sleeves to protect from uv. i had my sleeves rolled up for like 2 hours today and they're still hot as fuk. burnt to chit

now add today instead of delivery driver i was digging trenches with shovels and breaker bars trying to get under concrete lol. but maybe getting in and out of a/c is actually worse. could see that

few times ive felt close to fainting. not sure how close

i'm not sure tbh. ive tried to test it. all i know is i'd rather have the protection from sunburn

but i do think they are made to breath.

im not totally sure which is worse, you could have a lighter shirt i think and be burnt to fuk and be totally miserable... or maybe a slightly thicker material that protects you a bit

bottom line is i do think they have a material that helps with breathability

I've worked the first aid post at lots of concerts and outdoor festival events back in the day, this is exactly what heat exhaustion looks like.

You needed to keep sharp because you can mistake it for drugs or other intoxication at first.
