Does alcohol alone make you fat?
Like lets say if I drink pure everclear in a fasted state, does it converted to fat like carbs/fat/protein would assuming its the same amount of calories?
I understand that alcohol is not good for you, that it increases the risk of binging, and that it is calorie dense.
Tried to google it and all I get is bs articles by peasants telling me why alcohol is bad for other reasons.
Reps for any sort of research/science articles.

Alcohol is metabolized by the the body and provides approximately 7 kilocalories/gram. This is higher than protein or carbohydrate macronutrients which clock in at 4 kilocalories/gram, but lower than bioavailable fats, which provide around 10 kilocalories/gram.
The body does metabolize it, but it is not the greatest macronutrient to deploy for your daily life. Concurrently, alcoholic beverages also tend to contain high levels of carbohydrates which adds to their caloric density as a liquid food.
So yes you can survive off it for a while but you’ll die eventually and you can gain weight from it.

It lowers test. Which in turn hinders your ability to burn fat/calories, so in a way, yes.

I dunno, the best shape I've been in over the last 12 months was when I was biking 20 miles every day and binge drinking like 5-6 nights per week. If you sit around eating and drinking it's probably not good, but I don't think alcohol alone is going to kill you.

Idk used to get GF drunk and her ass looked way better when we were both drunk... then wake up the next day and her ass isn't as fat. Definitely something that the alcohol does. Thought she was special how fast she could gain/lose weight in her ass.

Simply put no it doesn't. There's no biochemical pathway that turns alcohol into fat or carbs. It is processed by the liver into acetyl acid. It does put you metabolism into a suspended state while it processes the alcohol.

Just trying to make sure I understand this bio availability correctly because I thought the calories in alcohol directly counted for weight gain/loss.

My uncle is an alcoholic. One of the first things that happened to him after he was off alcohol for a few days, aside from typical withdrawal issues, was that he started gaining more weight. Granted I think he barely ate, and just drank all day. So by not drinking, it probably caused him to do more eating.

Beer is a problem because it's loaded with carbs so your body needs energy from processing the alcohol so it'll be turned into some sugars and some fat. The higher carb or sugary the drink, the fatter you'll get.

It’s actually not advisable to drink more than 1 beverage per day. There may be minimal ancillary benefits to partaking in moderation.
But, for the goal of weight loss, I don’t see only drinking vodka as a healthy goal.

No food "directly turns into fat" so I don't know what you mean.
If you eat and drink more than you burn that day, it may be stored as fat.

the liver can't metabolize alcohol into usable energy and when your liver is burning that it stops burning fat.
that said, every chick i know that drinks like a fish is skinny AF because they skip breakfast, eat grapes for lunch and half a burger for dinner followed by a 12 pack or half a bottle of vodka with some seltzer.
the sheer amount of alcohol calories they consume should make them fat but it doesn't.
drunk eaters are fooked though.

We barely have a pathway for that as well
The fact is that nearly all human body fat started out as dietary fat and people and societies who eat more dietary fat are fatter
That being said, slamming a bunch of alcohol and carbs will annihilate your ability to burn fat
And if someone is planning on drinking a bunch of everclear while fasted, they should be more concerned about gaining criminal charges rather than body fat

If you wanna get fooked up you're better off smoking the Devil's Lettuce, might give you the munchies but if you're a heavy lifter and got chicken breast and egg whites on hand, that might be a good thing.

A while ago (around ~30) I emptied out my kitchen (legit everything snack-wise) and transferred all my liquid cash into investments, cut up my credit cards and got piffed out. I ended up finding some strawberry creamcheese and spooning it until finish. I guess it worked, that's all I ate because that's all I could find.

A lot of the food you eat just gets crapped out, so, it takes weeks of over eating to start gaining noticeable fat.
Most studies aren't funded well so they will last or a too short of a time to get real results. A lot of fitness studies are like that. They will conclude some supp doesn't work after like a week of use when supps and vitamins can take many months to seep into your whole body.

I understand that alcohol is not good for you, that it increases the risk of binging, and that it is calorie dense.
Tried to google it and all I get is bs articles by peasants telling me why alcohol is bad for other reasons.
