I'll be here at home doing the exact same thing

Bought a cabin up in the mountains that was going to turn into a rental, it's pretty close to a big ski town about 2 hrs away.
Instead, we decked it out and I keep tons of ammo, guns, food up to five years and water for 1 yr, or I can use LifeStraw on the pond in the back. Always have enough gas in the truck to get us there. And the power is backed up by a whole house generator.

Keep supplies at the main house but live in a residential area. If things go bad, we just jump in the truck and head up the mountain.

OP is correct, even if something BIG does not happen, chances for small catastrophes, can always occur. Fire, tornado, hurricane, whatever. Better to be prepared then to rely on others for your survival.

I doubt it'll come to that, BUTT I have food and essentials stocked up for about 3 months. Anything lasting longer than that and I couldn't get any more supplies, and I'd probably rather not live through that. ded fkn srs

I got maybe 6 months for me and a few in the family I provide for. I got only a few firearms. Tons batteries and water and the means to purify and drink dirty water.

I read fema or government can actually come in and take your food if they know you have plenty and supplies in such events because of a law that states the reason being to take your food to distribute it everyone else who “needs” it. I hate to think I stocked up to feed all idiots who didn’t bother to prep for themselves. I hope it’s not true said law.

If you're planning for an all out chit hits the fan, nuclear fall out or complete failure of modern systems....there is no point in having more than you can carry.

Just lol if you think you're just going to camp out in your house/apartment.....the last place you're going to want to be is in a metropolitan area, apartment building, neighborhood etc.

You just need to be able to survive/outlive the 80% of idiots that are going to go batchit crazy and kill each other (which should take about 3 weeks) then it's just a matter of setting up and building a spot where you can become sustainable. You'll either need to be able to defend your house/apartment during those 3 weeks (which you wont be able to) or get the fuk out of dodge and live in the woods as far away from people/populated areas as you can get....let all the chit die down, let the idiots take care of themselvels and then slowly start making your way back to where people USED to live, collecting supplies, finding a good 4wd mode of transport, gas cans, tarps, food, ammo, etc....

Hope you can fight, you're a good shot, in good physical shape, can run long distances, good with a compass and that you don't have anybody but yourself to look after.
