28 and living with parents in Texas suburb. What do?

I work from home as a software engineer. Tired of my parents. I have no friends or girlfriend. Where should I move to? I am open to anything honestly. Ive thought about moving the a small town in the mountains to ski and hike, or a big city like NYC or Chicago but I would need a new job. Also thought about just moving to another country like europe or thailand or becoming a digital nomad and just travel, but I would need a new job that allows that.

You don't need to become a 'digital nomad' or travel to some foreign place to change your life.

Move out of your parents place and get an apartment down town. Start looksmaxing. Go socialize in the evenings. Find some new hobies for the weekend. Mountainbiking. Motorcycles. Boating/sailboating. Fishing. Parasailing. Get a badass car and join a car club that does meet ups. Make friends and go play putt putt golf (or top golf). Go out to eat at new places. Etc.

I'm guessing your an anti social loser that just stays at his parents house all the time. Changing cities will not change the fact that you are socially inept. You're 28 and are miserable because you have failure to launch syndrome. You've just never become an independent grown man. No offense but as long as you live with mommy and daddy things will not change.

You can literally go look for an apartment in your city right now.

you're talking about becoming an expat when you havent even left your mothers basement yet. try getting an apartment 14 minutes away first, then revist your plans.

Say, ˹O believers,˺ We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.

You should prepare a soft launch. Stay at home but dedicate a couple nights a week to pursuing social hobbies. Maybe a recreational sports league or bowling. Maybe get a dog and do agility with them. Meet up.com is another possibility.

You don't need to blow 2 grand a month on your own place to do those things. The main goal here is to lay a foundation for a social life. Getting a place on your own should come after you have people lined up to visit.

Remember Men peak at 35. So you still have time to come around and make friends so you can get a gf , etc.

You will pay a **** ton more in taxes.

You've got it good getting no income taxes in Texas while living with parents so not having to pay those high property taxes that make up for it.

Maybe in your specific case you need to make friends with some older guys. I'm 35 and two of my friends are 44 and 56. TBH if I were going to strike up conversations/friendships with gym brahs

Most people my age with their **** together are married/with kids so it makes more sense to me to hang out with people who's kids are adults/older teens.

Assuming you have common interest a lot of middle age people like having younger friends.

TBH I'd be hardpressed to encourage you to move up north due to how cold and expensive most of it ends up being.

I'd tell you to consider the west coast of Florida (Clearwater-Tampa-St-pete) because of similar CoL to Texas, and similar warmth, but with better beaches. The humidity sucks though.
