Life altering decisions.. ever knowingly experience them before? (srs)

Sometimes you recognize..... the decision I make right now, will alter the course of my life probably forever.

It could be something as simple as stepping away from a bad situation.. Or maybe meeting a girl.. or picking between 2 different jobs.. etc.

I've had 2 in particular. One was when I decided to go to my friends house instead of make sure that my Dad was 100% ok (def a negative life altering decision).. The other was when I almost quit at the FAA Academy after doing terrible during a portion of the course. I thought that maybe this career wasn't for me. My GF at the time was making comments about how she probably didn't wanna move to where I wanted to go, and I felt like chit from doing terrible on some important exam and was homesick. Called my mom and she told me to quit (positive life altering decision)

Best decision I ever made was to not listen to my mom, and my own thoughts and continue pushing through the hard times.

Anyone else have examples of life altering decisions that you knew would impact the rest of your life?

Cis white woman here. I can’t speak 100% on what others experience. I will say I have queer friends of all varieties. Trans, non-binary, gay, lesbian. All I ask is tell me the pronouns you want me to use, the name you want to be called and we are golden. My friends are primarily like that as wel

I think you are a huge fuking ****got, probably top 5 of my misc chit list, but I will give you advice because you are still a misc bro.

If this thread is inspired by recent events that you made a thread about not too long ago then I say go for it. There is no need to end it if that is what you are wondering. Assuming your GF is wifey material and you think it will work long term then go for it. Ignore the fear because it could be a blessing in disguise. Be the better person, no offense, that you wish could have been there for you. Take the experiences that hurt you and use it as motivation to not let it happen again.

Lol idk what this comment is... but I'm one of the happiest and most successful miscers you will run into. I sometimes look at my past and reflect on the it, and will post threads based on that and want to help other miscers who aren't in that same space that I'm in right now.

I've had this, not really premonition, but like seeing a flash in your head or seeing stars and a feeling of a fork in the road being chosen and being irreversable at the moment of the life altering decision, not before.

Most significant wasn't even my decision. I was raised by my grandparents. My grandfather died when I was 9 years old. My grandmother planned to move to Columbus, Ohio because a lot of my family is there and a lot is also in Michigan. She wanted us to be close to family. She was about to buy a house as the house we lived in Virginia was under contract. She overheard her sister talking to another relative saying that she believed my grandmother was going to mooch off them and dump "the kid" (me) on them. So she canceled the whole thing and moved to the Atlanta area because my uncle was in the area and she figured it was a decent move. Everyone i know now, I wouldn't know, and everyhing would be so different.

Most recent, that would alter my life today, is not buying that e-collar for my german shepherd Heidi. So I went to buy one, had a feeling like I needed one. There was a wide selection but not much description and of course nobody in the store knew anything about them. So I went home to do research. I should have just bought a collar and if it wasn't good enough exchange it. A couple days later one of my other dogs ran loose (rescue that just won't train) and Heidi ran after her. I chased after her but figured the more I chased the more they would run. Went home and the rescue dog came home without Heidi. Found Heidi dead on the side of the road. The collar I was going to get will just about taze a dog and debilitate it on full power. The whole time chasing I was thinking that. Not that I want to do that to my dog but I always feared that happening. It sure has altered a lot of things in my mind. In about 6mo I lost two really great dogs.

I don't know why everyone always gives OP a hard time.

It must have been a terrible time for him to choose between the ethnicity he actually is and the one he pretends to be.

I think I met your cousin last night. Walked into the bar after a golf tournament and there he was passed out cold at the table. Felt kind of embarrassed watching a grown man get escorted out of a country club.

After generations of alcoholism you’d think the natives would have developed some tolerance.
