Tell me about Waikiki
I just booked plane tickets as a xmas surprise. Will be there during xmas week for 6 days 5 nights.
Any must sees? Also hotel recommendations are welcomed. Only want is waking up to ocean view. Bucket list stay was Turtle Bay but there's no availability during that time since I'm late to the planning party.
What have you brahs done that you've enjoyed? Any places to avoid? I'll be renting a car so I can get around.

Went in 1999 so a long time ago. lol We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki for 3 days before we got on cruise ship. It was really nice. We hiked Diamond Head and went to Pearl Harbor another day. Highly recommend. Pearl Harbor was very moving.

i go hiking just about every weekend. if thats your thing, there are tons of hikes to go on. i like kokohead crater as it's a straight up and down hike and the view is amazing. just make sure you do it early in the morning or right befre the evening when it starts to get dark. theres no wind until you get to the top, so you'll be burning up if you do it mid day.
if you like snorkeling, go to hanauma bay. it was a volcano that erupted 40k years ago leaving a huge crater that was filled in by the ocean. the water is calm and coral is a close swim. fish arent even scared; they are off minding their own business, swimming right infront of you.
if you are going to beach it, i recommend going to sherwood beach. its not very crowded that time of the year, so you can relax in the sun, swim, or go boogie boarding
i'd take you on a tour but i'm moving next month to japan, so unfortunately, i wont be able to eat your ass

Born on Oahu. Waikiki is a tourist trap. Id stay as far away from there as possible if you are looking to actually soak in the real hawaii.
North Shore and Kailua are where I would say to go visit. In the winter time the North Shore will be going off so there not really be any places for you to have a casual swim since the surfing world converges on those beaches during that time. Kailua beaches are pretty chill and should be a relaxing time.
If possible, book a puddle jumper over to Kuai and roll up to the Princeville side of the island. One of the most epic hikes on earth.....the Kalalau trail is there. Day his is about 5 miles to the first private beach round trip. Full hike is 11 miles in, camp over night and 11 miles back out through some pretty narly terrain but some of the best views on the planet.

yup-moving to japan. i got a job offer for where i can stay up there for up to 5 years and get return rights to my current job. so if i dont eat you out in japan, then maybe when i get back to hawaii?

I'll look into the puddle jumpers taking a day tirp elsewhere but was really interested in helicopter type tours around the island. Even though I just ran around in the sand playing ball yesterday clocking in a little over 5 miles.. I'm not too excited about an 22 mile round trip hike lol That might be a little too demanding for me.

Not beach related but Wiliwilinui Trail might be the best kept secret/hike in the area, from what I’ve researched. Stunning views and a great workout. 4 hours back and forth, bring food/water in backpack. I would advise against going if muddy or cloudy.
Ginza Bairin Tonkatasu - best Japanese I’ve ever had and I’ve been to Japan. Need reservations two weeks prior. Waiter said special sauce delivery overnight from Japan.
