Would love to see more of this from prominent members of black society. Stop saying that every criminal that was killed didn't deserve it. Start telling the youth to be good kids, and stop encouraging gang lifestyle/stop glorifying via music/film.

White people get blamed for stuff they don't even do. When they see that over 50% of black people commit violent crime, what do you expect?

It’s a multifaceted issue

There were long historic periods of institutional racism vs blacks specifically that led to a lot of blacks being born poor and in poor neighborhoods. Those neighborhoods have bred crime and drug issues that led to generations of young black men falling into the thug trap, going to jail, etc

Couple that with there being a steep increase in single motherhood in black communities that started in the 1960s. No fathers around (Due to imprisonment, death or simply just leaving) has led to many black people growing up with no real direction and turning to the streets for guidance

Now fast forward to today. Institutional racism is, for the most part, gone. There are no more racist laws. Some may argue there are some differences in outcomes as far as college admissions, job applications, policing etc go, but that’s hard to really gauge. This could also go both ways (In blacks favor for example when it comes to affirmative action and diversity hiring)

Yet we still haven’t got to the point where blacks have caught up with everyone else. They still make less money on average, go to jail more often on average, still have higher instances of single parenthood, basically still doing worse on average except for niche top 1% situations like Hollywood and pro sports

So where do we go from here?

If you’re asking specifically what black people can do, I would offer a few solutions

Culture. Change the victim mentality culture. Put more of a focus on education and getting a good job. Take personal responsibility and put it at the forefront. Encourage friends and family members away from the thug culture. Encourage mothers and fathers to stick together. You can only control what you can control (This could apply for any group of people, not specifically blacks)

Look to what Asians, Indians and Hispanics are doing. Asians and Indians are basically the new whites. They are the most successful on average. Their culture is focused on education, getting a good job, and success, and not making excuses. Hispanics suffer similar levels of poverty as blacks but do not have the same level of single parenthood or violent crime

Stop falling into this Democrat traps such as the BLM group, a group that actively encourages the destruction of the family unit. Start voting for what’s in your best interest, whatever that is for you. Stop calling black conservatives things like “Uncle Tom”. The clan mentality needs to stop

The overwhelming reason is because of the systemic racism that was in place that wrecked the family until and neighborhood like you stated. Unfortunately it's tough to get people who have known nothing but what's around them for 2 generations to suddenly make it out the mud in the best possible way.

Nigerian immigrants are one of the cultures who are focused heavily on education and structure. The American black family has been destroyed, but are on the mend in the vast majority of urban environments.. and can take alot from the Nigerian community. Chicago will always be bad, so will New York. Thats true with every single culture or type of people, but those being the worst by far.

Disagree with the Democrat thing. Republican/Conservatives have done a CHITTY job of catering to an open voting demographic. That's on them. They bring nothing of value to the black community but continue to blame and spit on them.

I agree that republicans do a bad job of marketing themselves to blacks and I’m not specifically a Republican. I do think though that, in general, voting for politicians that are more likely to support more business friendly laws and less taxes are going to benefit blacks more than whatever they think they’ll gain from Dems/liberals. Identity politics should not be at the forefront of who you vote for. Not if you want to be successful, anyway

Except..... The systemic racism that existed since the post Jim Crow era is JUST NOW starting to get over with lol. The 2020 marches and riots will go down as a positive force in America (hopefully) and one that will start to see the black communities that were being held back to the forefront of positive change.
