There’s this little thing called expected value op.

Believe it or not, when these national lotteries hit a certain dollar amount, they become a marginally positive expected value move.

Something like 600 mil for mega millions and 500 mil for powerball.

Couple bucks won’t kill you if it gets to those levels.

I must have misunderstood that part in some numbers book I read a while back.. at any rate, it’s still only a few lotto tickets a year, so it’s whatever

Yes. The one-time payout after taxes has to be over like $250m or something to have a positive expected return, but when the advertised annuity prize is over a billion, that is actually true.

I play occasionally…but it is funny how so many more play when it’s this high. Like 100 million wouldn’t be enough or something, lol. It’s also funny how many times it’s someone just buying a few dollars worth and not dumping their weekly paycheck weekly to try and win.
