If you're going to use all three ,then you need a triple switch

It would have three buttons

For just the fan,it's a simple normal switch like you have for a light
the diagram is really inept. how is the outlet getting power?

it's pretty interesting cause i see what you're saying now. normally they dont show the devices wired up with the boxes. i separated it which is still technically right. it is technically a junction box with a switch, which they don't show. theyve kinda melded it together

but again... they imply power from the outlet but it would have to be wire nutted with one hot from the outlet getting power from wherever and then his device also getting power from the same wire nut

OR he could wire nut where the power is coming into the box.

in other words, if he eliminates the left side like you said i dont see how he's getting power. unless he's pulling it from the outlet, but the diagram doesn't say that

The only thing I can think is to trace the wires from the back of the black outlet to make SURE that they are the white and black you are connecting to. Is it a regular outlet? Can you test the fan by plugging it straight into a known good wall outlet? Watch your fingers

Sounds like he's got no power ( someone screwed up upstream ).

Edit : Make sure you grabbed the correct white wire in the unit ( i.e. the black and white go to the same outlet ), and that you are plugging the fan component into the outlet you wired up ( you posted it was the black outlet ).
yea, i dont get it. it doesn't help op is not familiar with this chit.

is the outlet in the unit itself?

then its like i said to wasp.

there appears to be only one source of power and that's the 120v line coming into the box at the bottom (the switch box). if he wanted to skip the light and just do the vent. he needs to take the black wire coming in, add a black wire going to the device. and then add a black wire going to the outlet. so there should be 3 blacks under one wire nut. making sure neutrals and grounds are still connected

but im not sure op is describing everything correctly and the diagram seems weird too

if the transformer has a white/ red coming from it then i think everything i said is right. which i believe is the case because i have hard time believing they'd wire nut the hot and neutral like that

I would assume the outlet is just in series ,not sure why you'd have an outlet on ceiling fan, what if you can't reach it ?

But if you look ,the black for vent goes to outlet, the other two go to left side

It would have to go to the fan motor after that ,but like you said ,it doesn't show that

Very confusing as it's drawn ,makes. No sense

I'm sorry ,the heat goes left ,the light also goes to outlet

So it would have to be in series

I'd just bypass the outlet

Like I said, there's missing info

And it's just 3 wires regardless

Just connect them to what you want and cap the rest

i do see that. if you just isolate it to that, i dont see how the outlet is getting power

unless its implying it gets power. without that 120v line coming in i dont see how the outlet is getting power

which, again, unless its already wired for power which seems a big presumption

there would have to be a 120v line going into the outlet as well

The black and white go from switch to outlet in pic ,just ignore that three way to.left

I'd just run them to fan motor, unless you wana use outlet ,in thst case yiu run it thru ,in series

If the red is for the light ,why would it be nutted to the outlet?

The whole thing is fubar

It's 3 wires ,ground ,white ,black

There has to be wires coming from fan motor ,which isn't shown

Nor is the light shown

Just the outlet

Op will have to figure it out

Or call China

it's pretty funny how chit can get fuked up

truth be told, there are switches out there that idk how they work..

i got called to one once. actually more than once. a lot of the expensive azz condos would use new smart switches and chit. and the guy i was working with didn't know either. the guy ended up having to get new chit cause they weren't compatible

i was assuming that 120v line is going to the lights and then when you hit the other buttons on the switch the power from there was going to the others

but.. not positive

as the diagram shows i dont see how the outlet has power itself. the power has to be carried to the outlet

if the outlet does have power then what you said makes sense. you could just do that basic azz connection

Black to blue , green to copper bare and white to white for power to outlet in box. Then plug fan into said outlet

You got a whole mess in that thing, did you cut the plug off the fan or something wtf you doing it also needs a 20amp breaker too because those heated ones draw like crazy

i've plugged the fan into a regular outlet to test if it works and it does, so it's not the fan unit

I thought maybe I did a potato job of connecting stranded with solid wires so I got these connectors from home depot:

still didn't work

unless am still potato and don't have a solid connection

Is there any chance the light has to be hooked up for the fan to work?

Edit: why didn't you just buy a single fan instead of a unit with two other features you don't want?

stranded and solid is fine. 14 and 12 actually is not. i believe by code its not but some people will do it if short on materials/ time or something. if its on a 20 amp breaker. its not ok at all on 15 amp breaker. it wouldn't pass inspection if they saw it, but idk if you care about that

stranded is actually considered a little better because of more surface area. you just want to make sure when you twist the wire nut on youre not loosening the stranded. so those connectors are pretty good. also the amount of copper you have sticking out wouldn't pass inspection either. it's fairly dangerous for heat and you might accidentally touch it or it could hit metal and become a dead short

honestly wtf is even going on. according to your pic, if you are correct. you have your 120v line connected to another black, but it appears that black is for the black outlet?

where is that power going?

There is no light in OPs

The unit is calling for two power sources of 12/3 to the unit, one for the lights and fan and another dedicated line for the heater and these will be a on a double pull breaker or separate ones depending how you do it . They are either gonna go to two switches or one combo switch made for exhaust fans

Your really gonna have to call a tradie up srs I hate helping people with electric problems over the internet

And honestly just return that unit and buy a fan only one brah

I'm thinking this is a switch that has a hot coming in (black), and three hots going out to supply the vent, light, and heater. Did it come with this switch?

I only need/want to power the fan. I bought this unit over just a fan unit because the housing size was closest to my previous cut out/housing, which was important because I was trying to avoid attic access to install on differently spaced wood beams. there weren't really many other options that had this height/length

It looks like you have it correct if you have the black wire that comes in with the blue wire and white wire hooked to your hot black. You need to put the white wire next to the blue wire together with the other two whites you have together already.

You don't need to call anyone

I'm assuming you know the feed is hot right ?

Just try different combos till you get it

Only thing that will happen is you'll trip the breaker

Take an extension cord and just keep sticking two wires in till the fan comes on

You all ready know the switch end

All you're trying to do is figure out the hots for the fan

Wait a fkn minute, you never used a meter to see if you had 120 volts going to it.
Guessing at that can cost a lot of money and time
