Nope, I fish all year round but really love ice fishing. Trout season starting soon though, which is my favorite

Never fished before, and have been saying I would get started for years...

so yesterday, I walked into Cabelas with the intent of buying everything I needed to get started. I got some stuff, but now I'm even more intimidated by everything than I was before. Besides a few OBVIOUS must have things, I have no idea what the heck I need for salt water fishing (surf/pier/inshore kayak)



Does anyone have a good online resource that goes over everything? Strongly considering going into a local bait & tackle store and asking for an adult

If you could find a local fishing club and would be willing to join I'd say that would be your best option if you're really wanting to speed up the learning curve. I can almost guarantee there will be bass clubs in your area (provided there's decent bass fishing) but I have no idea if they have them for saltwater fishing. There wouldn't be much carryover from bass fishing to saltwater though.

Insane! 5 minutes with a 4.5' bull shark put me in my place! I follow a guy on YouTube (Glenn Madden) that fishes offshore, on the Texas coast, out of a yak. He's mainly after king fish, not exactly the same as the video, but he occasionally hooks into some pretty big fish that has him hooked up for over an hour.

Its nuts doing that from a little plastic boat. That thing could jump near the boat and if it lands on you or spears you that'll be the end of you. Just so many ways that could end badly. Still mirin though. What an adrenaline rush and what a fish.

We (my son and I) got over 250 Hickory and a couple of American Shad during the run this year.

We also got a few Rockfish including this 15lb 1oz.

Been catching trout like a mad man past few weeks. Gotten 10+ fish per outing. Found some awesome spots where very few people fish since they're a long walk.

Dealing with ankle tendonitis after running Monday, though, so won't be able to go this weekend.

I have them on DVD but this is convenient, you have to go to YT for the first 5 episodes though

Got out on my favorite little trib yesterday and took a few pics along the way.

The whopper plopper has made so many of my other lures obsolete it's not even funny. Big, little, over cast or bright sun, still water or through the rapids it's absolutely insane what this lure does to fish. I started off throwing Mepps spinners and tube jigs and couldnt even get a bite. I tied on the WP and literally caught 4 fish in about 7 or 8 casts. Caught about 20+ in under 3 hours wading.
