Holy Crap....In a world where man is struggling to get by........

I was forwarded an email from my friend that lives down the street. His son is entering High School this coming school you and they gave him notice that the district booster club is offering VIP parking spots for High School students in the "back lot" (no clue what that means) and there is one left for............................. $10k.

WTH man? $10k for a kid to park in high school? And its a public school. I thought it was madness. On top of it all they offered several spots and there is only one left? As in others paid for this. Blew my mind.

Yeah that’s crazy. When I was growing up I went to a private school for a year and all chicks had bmw and guys had z71. Everyone already had their own hunting land and didn’t even need to go to school because their parents could find them a good job either way. I would have dominated in sports there though but they actually sent me a letter asking me not to come back to the school. I stayed back in public school where I felt like people were actually more snobby

lol I remember when I was in high school they had paid parking spaces right up at the school, then you had the free parking in the back lot. The extra distance difference was like 1 minute of walking, no joke.

But regardless there were more people who paid for the closer parking than people who didn't. No fcking idea what to think about that.

Fear of loss; there may not be any takers at all. It's the same as "last 2 plots" on a housing development when there are actually 37 still available.

You increased the perceived value by stating that other people want it or paid that amount and then you force them to act through fear of missing out by stating "last one available".

Yeah I can see this in private school 100%. The one near my house that is highly sought after feels like a damn ivy campus somewhere in the hamptons. So id expect that kind of stuff. I was just floored that this happens in public school.

Yeah, thats where my head was. But honestly I could wrap my head around paying to be a little closer as we are in Texas. But $10k seemed extreme to me. I am one that always preaches money being all relative so I need to practice what I preach but it honestly blew my mind when I first read it.

There is definitely no question the area is nice. But yes I was still surprised by the $10k price tag for public school parking. Private school.....totally.

Hey man, awesome.....a productive comment I can get down with. You are stating facts for sure. In Texas, we have high real estate taxes.

So the people sending their kids to private are paying astronomical taxes relative (3% real estate which equates on average to about $100k per year for the average cost of a house) on top of sending their kid to $25-30k a year elementary, on top of donating to the private school, on top of "bridging" their kindergarten kids for another year to give them time to emotionally mature. This in turns equal minimum $50k for my neighbor's 6 year old across the street to attend and graduate from kindergarten. Mind is blown man.

Dang that’s a lot and outrageous.

Senior parking is $40 with WSB and $60 without at our high school. Junior class and under is $10. The student lot is huge with Senior spots closest to the entrance of the school.

This is honestly what I was expecting. I think the outrageous tag is more aligned to "we are donating"......but I thought this mentality was only present in private schools. I thought you sent your kids to public school (even if considered a very good school) for value.
