i got a gold ring and a gold necklace with a pendent on it. I only wear it for special occasions like weddings or parties.

No. I'm not quite sure what the logic behind buying gold is in 2022. You'd be better off buying luxury watches/jewelry and/or firearms & ammunition depending on what scenario you're preparing for.




If its a SHTF where you need to be mobile and/or leave the country watches/jewelry can be worn/carried. On planes and across borders. You can sell them again when you need to liquidate for a local currency.

Because gold and silver are currency. They always have been and will be. Also, the only reason the dollar price attached to the metals is seemingly stagnant is because of banks utilizing derivatives in the paper market to control it. Think Bitcoin now.

There's a reason why there is a giant lawsuit going on right now that might actually get somewhere with big banks being held reliable for this. JP Morgan was fined $900 million for spoofing the metals market in 2020, but to a bank that is nothing.

I had plenty of gold and silver but sadly lost it all in a very unfortunate boating accident. Sucks.

Nope. I do have diamond earrings that I don't ever take off, but they were a gift. I don't spend my money on chit like that. For currency purposes, I'd probly rather invest in crypto or something. Not that I do that either. I'm too poor and financially illiterate, other than knowing I shouldn't spend the little money I do have on gold.

No. But after hearing people in Venezuela use gold shavings as currency I considered having something just in case lol.

Only thing of value I have is a pair of 1/2 carat, total weight, diamond earrings. My mother gifted them to me on my 40th birthday.

Oh, now that I think about it. My teenager has a few vials of gold shavings she got while panning for gold at Knott’s Berry Farm every time she went lol.

I own a couple 1 oz gold coins and a dozen 1 oz silver coins. Holding shiny real precious metal coins is just cooler than owning a a contract to one.

One of these day I'm gonna buy a 24k brick. Can't go wrong with gold. It holds true dollar value. Held a 3kg brick before and was mind blown how heavy it is for its size. And the imperfect bricks looks really cool and ancient

I have about 10% of my net worth in gold due to:

- excessive money printing by the central banks
- the "Lindy Principle" - gold has been recognized as a medium of exchange/store of wealth for the last 5000 years
- a prediction that China will create a Central Bank Digital Currency that is backed by gold
- gold being a good defensive asset and an inflation hedge

Also have about 1% in cryptocurrency.
