Honestly the biggest issue for me is not being a part of a community and i can't meet anyone i connect with at all. Like nobody really talks at my office anymore. Some gen Xers do but that's about it. I talk about it online but people just tell me i'm autistic, but i'm honestly not that bad. And my moods are constantly shifting, like i can feel great one second and then just get really bored and have a mood swing. I usually feel decent on the weekends and late at night but during the day my mood is always changing.

I wish there was a way to progress somehow but for some reason literally every day gets more monotonous. I wake up feeling normal but then just fall into instant anxiety and depression when i arrive at work. I don't think i have the chemical imbalance depression, i think it has to do with the monotony of being at work all day with nothing really happening.

I left the military after a decade. My kids are 4 and 2 and my wife left her job since our first was born. Timing worked out well that she picked up her old job (even works from home) just as I left, and her pay is pretty close to the same.

Plan is for me to be stay at home dad and pursue my MBA starting in January.

I’ve been doing this thing for 4 months now and I’m miserable. Im irritable, not being a good dad, tired, lonely, feel like I have no purpose. My wife works all day and finishes at 630. Then I go workout in the garage gym, shower, and then it’s bed time for the kids and my wife passes out by 930. Then I’m alone with my thoughts until 11-12 until my 2 year old wakes up and needs me to get him back to bed. Usually just sleep with him in his queen bed.

I’ve been trying to just tell myself I’m being a bitch, which normally set me straight in the past during my bouts of the feelings, but it’s not working this time. I can tell my wife is sick of my antics but I can only fix it for a day or so at a time and then I’m back into feeling and acting like ****. I’ve never once considered suicide and now I find myself understanding why it’s a decision people make. I would never act on it because I know me at my worst is still better for my kids than being gone, but even having these thoughts destroy me.

In short; I’m sad man.

Past week has been rough. Feel better right now though. Gonna hit my workout, then maybe head out to the beach and have some drinks at a bar later.

I exercise literally every day. It does help a bit but it's not the cure all for depression that people think.

As for sleep........ Nardil is killing me at the moment. It's the most effective med I've been on for depression by far but the insomnia is brutal. Sleep 4 hours a night at most but often it's 2. Weirdly I can somehow still function thanks to the Nardil but when the fatigue hits it's overwhelming. Severe insomnia or depression though...... like the devil or the deep blue sea.

Yeah, I think it only works for very minor depression. For long lasting depression exercise only leads to temporary relief. It helps me for hours or occasionally the rest of the day but than the following day any benefit I had doesn't exist any longer & it's like I'm just starting over again.

So damn tired of my job. Literally have the work the next like 7 out of 8 days. It's like how am I supposed to even be happy or look forward to anything when I know all I have to look forward to is going in to work everyday. It's such an insane existence. It makes me so annoyed knowing I have to keep going on with this never ending grind. I have a day off today than it's just back to the grind almost everyday all over again.

Man i'm struggling hard to make it through the work days. I can just feel the anxiety and exhaustion increase as each hour passes and by the end of the week i'm just done. Part of it's probably because i'm cutting but man how do people do this every day until they are old? I don't understand it either because i've always been a workaholic but it just seems so pointless nowadays for some reason. It's only Monday and i'm already completely mentally exhausted.

Yeah idk how people do it all day without feeling like crap. I legit get so depressed and down feeling at work i almost cry srs. But like on the weekends i usually feel fine. So it has to be something about work draining my energy.

Yeah basically. The worst is before I have to go to work. I'm always in such a real ****ty mood most of the time knowing all I have to look forward to is a long day of work. As the day goes on I'm not as bad knowing I'm close to going home soon but I still get a sense that it's just all so pointless. I just can't deal with the grind of work.

Do you do all the work at your job? Where i work barely anyone does anything but sit in a chair all day while i do tons of lifting and stuff. But like nobody talks or really does anything so it's just depressing. If we had enough work for a team to stay busy all day i think it'd be better but it all feels so pointless because it's like barely anyone is ever working. Hell even half the month i won't have much to do. Depends though. Usually i have a lot of work the first 2 weeks of the month.

Maybe most people just aren't working that hard so they conserve their energy. I never really see people working much. Do you?

People work at my job it's just my issue is the horrible grind of having to keep going into the same place over & over nonstop. If I quit this job I'll just have to look for other work than it'll just be the same process all over again at another place. The system is so broken & set up the way it is where the people in charge want everyone to have to work into old age to control them. They don't want everyone to be able to retire early or to be wealthy.

Man there's just nothing to do. I swear everything has gotten worse you can't even go to a restaurant anymore without it being poor quality. I just wish i knew how to be happy but everything is just so boring now. I can work until i can't anymore and maybe that distracts me from boredom for a bit but it's like this is all there is. And there's nothing on tv to watch or anything anymore it's like all you can do is just stay in your own little bubble. Social media is depressing now too.

i probably suggested fictional books to you before. when i find myself feeling down sitting down and reading for 2-3 hours leaves me feeling relaxed, high-spirited, and energized. i also feel more talkative in general, with a greater interest in most things. try a hemingway novel or something else classic. i'm currently getting into mark twain

This happened with The Walking Dead in 2012. Everyone around me talked about the show so I had to start watching it to fit in with the conversations. I actually ended up liking the show, but that's what pushed me to it.

I don't watch TV though. I didn't in 2012 either. I'm completely out of touch with any of the pop culture stuff since like 2015 because i don't keep up with any of it anymore.

Life is just boring these days. But like I said a bunch of times before I truly think having a great social life changes the mindset of people compared to others that don't have one. We're burdened by work because we have nothing to look forward to outside of work. We're on the outside looking in where to us going out to eat with friends sounds boring to us but to them it's fun because they're experiencing it themselves with people they like being around. I just don't have the mental makeup to go out & do things on my own & enjoy myself. I would love to go to the beach but it would be so depressing going alone so I don't bother. After college it's almost impossible to have a social life unless you already have close friends that you've known for years. I feel if by the time you're like 25 & you don't have any close friends than it's a lost cause since by that point everyone is spending most of their time at work or with friends they've had for years or with their relationship partner.

Bro I used to hang out with friends and go out to eat and all of that it isn't fun trust me. If you don't genuinely enjoy going out to a restaurant and sitting around for an hour or two around a bunch of people it won't ever be fun to you. For some people it is but for introverts they'd rather be doing other stuff. It's the same with work and hanging around people if you aren't genuinely doing something you're passionate about you won't enjoy it being an introvert. Those are all extrovert activities. It's possible to become an extrovert but for people like us the stars have to align perfectly. I've been both an introvert and extrovert in my life and was only extroverted for like 4 years then I got tired of it. It all got boring the moment everyone got addicted to smart phones and social media and pop culture started sucking lol.

Idk man I just think if I had a social life my life would be better than it is. I would actually have some places to go at least. Being alone all the time gets really boring. I agree that smartphones & social media really screwed things up a lot though. It's just a selfish entitled society nowadays for the most part. Everyone wants their voice to be heard & if you disagree with them on anything than it just turns into a huge argument.

It would lift your mood if you were with people that make you happy sure, but it gets old too trust me. Not saying you would never enjoy doing it sometimes. But yeah if you don't agree with people exactly there's gonna be an argument and it's just too hard to socialize with things like this. Even people i know and family members are like this where everything turns into an argument. I hear my family arguing a lot when i go over there and heard a lot of drama at the workplace and it's like i don't wanna be a part of that. I'd rather just be alone than deal with it constantly.
