Am I being a poooci Millenial at work or is this not normal from employer

Get hired as associate technical consultant on June 7, 2022

Put into training

Java->pyspark 1->pyspark 2->SQL->AWS->RedHat(soul draining garbage)

So now I’m on My sixth training and I am burnt the fuk out from reading and watching videos I thought I was done with this type of **** after college and I’m sick of this disorganized crap they can’t even find a project to put me on because this company lets the clients pick whOever they want to work on their projects and nobody wants entry level. Am I being a poooci for complaining I am just sick of the structure of this company yes I am getting paid but I think I’d rather drink contaminated water and get yelled at by a drill Sargent at camp Lejune for **** pay then continue to read this goddam textbook

I knew some of them already but needed a refresher the python was a specific library in python called pyspark that was supposed to get me on a project but the client said they don’t want me AWS and redhat I didn’t know prior but never wanted to work with them in a million years

So you are working for a consultancy/bodyshop. They submit the resumes of the project team as part of the bid process.

ATM, your resume isn't strong enough for a BDM/RDM to get you on projects, so you are doing inhouse stuff that they can then put on your resume.

This is completely standard behaviour.

Looks like they're progressively easier. SQL is less complex than embedding videos on misc.

Yea this is not what I expected I thought I was going to go into a company and the company is gonna say we need this go code it in the corner okay sounds good but I end up working for a company that needs to pimp us out to clients it’s not at all what I wanted

Lmao you don’t see what I’m saying, I’m okay with training when that training has a specific end goal, but this is just random trainings that my boss tells me to do some of which are IT crap that I hate I’d rather be at a company that says here’s training as soon as your done your gurenteed to be working on this project

It sounds like you have a pretty junior dev role in a chit organization where there is no one to mentor you. I had one of those as well.
Perferrably for your first job, they don't just stick you in a corner and have you reading manuals and youtube tutorials for development. And wtf, why are they making you learn all of that chit at once? Don't they know that your brain will be spread thin when there is no application to solidify what you have already learned? And why the hell don't they pay the extra 400 bucks to enroll you in codeacademy courses or some role like that?
My diagnosis: chit employer for junior dev that you won't learn anything from until you work on projects (probably by yourself, without experienced devs to lend you a hand). Maybe I'm wrong though.
If I am correct, then what I would do is stick around for another 6 months to get stuff on the resume, do some side projects if you aren't actually working on projects by then, and apply for a new junior/mid dev role.
Also, the "lmaoooo poooociii millenial" stuff at jobs usually means the place is run poorly and there is some retarded lazy boomer (or millenial) who refuses to change, adapt, or update to something more efficient.

That's on you.

I'm guessing that this is your first real job after college and you didn't really do a lot of research, or ask a lot of questions about what the job entailed.

The good news is that they will have you on a project as soon as they possibly can. Every day that you are on a project, they are billing the client and every day you aren't on a project, you are costing them money.

Depending on the business model, your breakeven will be at 60-70% utilisation. If you are not on a project at least 60-70% of the time, you are a net loss. So if they didn't realistically believe that they could put you on a project at least 80% of the time, and thereby make a profit, they wouldn't have hired you.

Repped, see that’s what I feel exactly, I hate redhat training, and I don’t even know if I’m gonna use it, how am I gonna retain the info with these two things going on in my head as I read it it’s almost impossible. I didn’t mind python and sql training but when I got rejected from a client after that I was like wtf is the point if nothing is guaranteed to be used . The company’s business model sucks for employees I gotta figure out an exit strategy

I feel for you man. Suck whatever value, experience/networking/interesting/resume/etc, out of the company and find a better company with actual people that you can work with. Have that side project that you are genuinely interested in (even if it is only barely interested) and chit out those resumes. Good luck!
