I have zero debt. Paid for my car with cash. I use my credit card for necessities and pay it off every month to build my credit up. Otherwise I use my debit card.

Well, what I do is make enough money off my day job that I could cover my mortgages and have covered them in the past without skipping a beat. You sound envious.

Debt is a funny game. It's all about debt to asset ratio. Some people might have debt, but they have a lot to show for it while some people have a lot of debt but nothing to show for it. That's just simply put. Say you have a mortgage, you might have half a million in debt technically, but you have a house to show for it, which puts you in a much better position than someone with 50K in credit card debt who rents. The interest you pay, if you can justify it as being worth it, (logically, not cope) then it might be worth it.

0. Two homes, one paid off and one gifted (family home). 3 cars, all paid off. I use a Costco card for purchases for points but pay it off every month.

Should be debt free by end of next year. Mortgage paid off, no car payment…will feel good mayne. Will be dumping money in to investments, toys/hobbies, and helping family.

This. If I wanted I could sell all assets right now and clear somewhere in the neighborhood of $150-200k. I would certainly be much better off if I was paying somebody else's mortgage for more than what I pay on my own instead.

Highest interest rate I have is a couple of the cars in the 3.xx range. I could pay them off tomorrow but why do that when I could throw a dart at the wall to randomly select ETF's and outperform that... JFL.

Last I read the average rent in the US is $2K or more now.

Under $60K mortgage, about $1,000 on one card. Positive net worth but broke AF.



Thinking again about holding on to the house vs. selling and using the money to try and get into a more stable situation.

I would rather just pay it there and then. That account only exists for the debit card and I only keep enough in there to cover what I spend, with no overdraft facility. I can transfer more in to there before I spend it if I need.

It is actually safer v fraud than a credit card.
