One of my friend's sisters went to Syria about fifteen years ago travelling solo as a female. Got on a bus in one town (verified) and never arrived at the next stop. They searched for her for two years. Can't even imagine what she probably went through before they finally killed her.

This is like going into the slums of Brazil as a tourist and wondering why you get robbed.
