Animals that would stand a chance in a fight with a full grown kodiak

Talking about a fight on land so don't make bs scenarios in the water or whatever. No humans with guns neither.

In an open field 1 on 1

The first time I saw one in the zoo I was mind blown. Over 10 feet tall and the claws were like knives

Seems like if it stood tall not many animals would be able to do much against it

Gorilla? Tiger maybe

they just don't come across as territorial or overly vicious so they most likely slip my mind when thinking of fight scenarios

Polar bear would be only option imo because they do get bigger and are meaner.

Giant bears are the strongest predator imo. Kodiak bears are grizzlies, just a subspecies that is generally larger from a specific area of Alaska.

Still plenty of non predators that could kill it like say a bull elephant.

I reckon the biggest polar bear is still bigger the biggest kodiak, so polar might be able to fuk him up. The rest would perhaps be elephants/rhino













But Leonardo managed to kill one, and a mother bear at that ... so who knows how tough they really are.

Well siberian tigers will avoid large male brown bears, they can take the smaller ones but they don’t **** with the big boys.

I don’t have any references at the moment, but didn’t the Romans commonly do this kind of thing? They would put lions, bears, tigers, alligators etc in the arena and let them fight. I think it was the tiger that won the most.

Not sure if they ever put rhinos or elephants in with them. One of them used elephants in wartime though and maybe that’s why they didn’t want to sacrifice them.

My memory is vague on this, so feel free to correct

Of any predator, nothing will take it. They are too big (wild specimen at 1700lbs, 6’ at shoulder, over 10’ tall standing), too strong, too fast, too well protected (dense fur, thick tough skin, dense muscle and fat layers, small access to vital areas), and have too many weapons.

Standard predator biting / slash / tearing / suffocating attacks would not be effective.

Only animal that has a distinct advantage (on land) would be an elephant. They could leverage their size, strength, and tusks to most likely defeat a brown bear.

No, he's correct, with some details. Drop any man off naked in the bear's territory he will be an easy meal for the bear, but if that was the game humans would have gone extinct a long time ago. Lets say a human that knows what they are doing with a proper weapon that bear is going to be a rug by the end of the day.

Only animals that definitely could are the large cats. Maybe a tiger, but probably something more nimble like a jaguar. I think lions are too bulky and slow for a kodiak. Gorillas have skin more like ours, which tears easily, so they'd be done in seconds. Skin of bears and great cats is very stretchy.

It's funny, a tiger or lion can wreck a jaguar no problem, but I think a jaguar would do better than a tiger or lion against a kodiak/grizzly. Pros and cons.

Hard to quantify, but in general Polar bears are not meaner, as they are not territorial like other bears and less likely to be provoked to attack.

Actually Kodiaks are not grizzlies at all. Both are sub species of brown bear. Polar bears are a sub species of brown bears as well.

Jaguar max size is 250lbs. It is doing nothing to a Kodiak bear.

The wild thing about polar bears is they are 100% carnivores, while grizzlies and other brown bears will eat other food that's available. All about the surroundings over their evolutions. Polar bears don't care about territory for sure. They'll smell blood from 20 miles away and come for its source, then keep roaming. They can't be territorial with most of their food swimming randomly underneath them.
