I am gonna start using one of my laptops soon. It is a lenovo w530. I decked it out so far. I removed the webcam, removed the internal speaker and internal microphones, (I have a schizo hunch that it is possible somehow for ec firmware or whatever to be modified to make speakers act as microphones, and it is possible to use ultrasonic sound to send commands through the speakers or for a backdoor to listen through speakers), removed the bluetooth card, I put an upgraded cpu in it I cant remember think it was an old intel i7 2600 but whatever its the max it can take, and I put 32 gb RAM in it, one 1 TB SSD, then a 2 TB HDD in the optical drive slot, and a 500 gb mSATA in the extra back port meant for a cell card or whatever. When I get motivated to I'm gonna take it apart again and flash it with coreboot and use the ME Cleaner to disable the intel management engine. Also will try to put the classic keyboard in again but last time a few of the keys wouldn't work and I got frustrated and gave up. But anyway after I am done, I am not gonna use anything else. No more backdoors. Will use encrypted SSD with debian for my os and follow a hardening guide. The computer is build like a tank but unfortunately is heavy as **** and the charger is like carrying around a huge brick, its a 170 watt charger.


But speaking of glowie tech, I ended up buying an old Google pixel and put grapheneOS on it. It works pretty good I think but I haven't done any packet inspection to see what it is doing. The only thing now that I dont like is ALL info is stripped from photographs and I am being accused of following around this woman in my truck so I have been taking pics of my odometer every so often and keeping all my receipts as records of where I have been but I need the dates to be in the exif data on the photos. Dont know how to fix that, haven't bothered looking idk
