Actually go back and watch again. They signal to him (which is partly cut off) and then tell him to "shhh" which is why he got pissed. They stopped him for no reason then told him to be quiet. I would be furious too.

I read that bear mace is actually weaker than people mace (lol people mace) because bears' noses are more sensitive and they don't want to permanently hurt it or something, is that true?

had 2 bouncers spray me with bear mace from about 12 inches distance at the same time and I still managed to fight them off

Pushing a camera out of his direction isn't going to damage it and wasn't an attempt at theft. He didn't lay a finger on the guy but he retaliated with assault using mace, within his rights to open fire at that point to defend himself.
