Planning a trip to Dallas, would head back to my city on Dec. 24 at around 7PM.. how often or likely is a flight out of Dallas be cancelled that day? Could be anything, weather, etc etc

Would hate to spend my xmas eve and day not with my family LOL

Depends on the airlines. AA is notorious for cancelling flights and overbooking.

Cool, gonna lookout to avoid booking a flight from AA. Southwest has always been decent the times I have flown, but you guys have any other recommendations ?

I like Southwest. Or maybe I should say I like to put my daughter on Southwest and I prefer to deal with Love Field rather than DFW.

No guarantees can be made, but DFW isn't super likely to have a weather delay at that time related to local conditions. Our extreme weather is more often big thunderstorms/tornadoes most common in spring and maybe more rarely ice in January or February.

The city you are traveling to? Are they known to have weather delays often?

If it is important to you to be home on Christmas morning then I might look for a little earlier flight so that if it is delayed or cancelled you still have some options to get out that evening.

Yes Love Field would be the airport i'd be getting, since that's the one that Southwest is showing me. DFW looks closer to the area i'd be around on in Dallas, but all in all same city. The city i'm traveling to from Dallas is always pretty chill, even in winter there can be hot days and it rarely even snows in winter time. Thunderstorms happen right now, but December is usually pretty chill. Dallas is the city that has got me thinking since I don't know how bad it could get during December.. the flights i can get on the 24th are either 7/8 PM and i'd arrive to my destination at 8:30/9:30 the latest, which is perfect so I could stay over at family's and celebrate that night and the next day (25th)True, but would appreciate miscers inputs with more flight experience especially during winter times and around this city, just in case if it's high ill just plan the trip a little different

Flight schedules on holidays themselves tend to be pretty light so there’s more slack in the system. Christmas Eve is one of the slower travel days but not as much as Christmas. If it freezes around that time in Dallas good luck though. That will cripple DFW. That airport can’t handle it.
