I know the common sentiment is that frats are ghey and you're paying for friends etc. Think about it, how is it any different from being in a club or paying rent to stay somewhere, etc.? You're not paying for friends, you're paying to help pay for group costs and events. I try to tell all young guys in college to seriously try and join a fraternity. You're going to get so many benefits. You'll learn to be more social, you'll get out of your shell, you'll learn about yourself and grow, you'll be more motivated to study because frats usually have GPA requirements. Best of all, the mixers and socials with sororities happen and you'll be interacting with girls and you'll have status and social standing on campus that gives you a leg up. Meet a girl in class? You can invite her to the next tailgate or party or whatever and it makes meeting girls so much easier. You'll also be more motivated to get in and stay in shape. You can study and know that you're gonna be partying and not have the stress of trying to find social events and things to do. I've only touched the tip of the iceberg in how much better off you'll be.

Sorry to break it to you op but this forum is only late 20+-boomer range people clinging to a part of their youth. Pretty sure I’m one of the youngest And I’m almost 30 lol. College aged kids are on Reddit or tik tok now

agreed with op, it was a great experience. Saved money ultimately because living in the fraternity is cheaper than dorms or apartments, especially during the summer. You get to meet a ton of people, have an opportunity to attend fun events(charity, community service, IM sports, parties etc). The pay for friends aspect isn't bad, because you pay for parties and fun chit, and you're almost forced to be around and enjoy people you would never be friends in any other environment.
