That’s incorrect, you may not enter private property without consent of the owner, this is why police was there to verify consent.

If the owners are not there and therefore cannot ask a person to leave, it’s still trespassing unless you can get the owner on the phone to verify consent or at least get a reasonable explanation from neighbors.

Police can verify with the homeowners in person or on the phone whether this stranger is indeed allowed on the property, they also may need to verify his identity as well since he is potentially trespassing, there was no reason for him to give them attitude and refuse to comply.

A person from the neighborhood alled the police reporting they saw a suspicious person on the property of one their neighbors. When you're suspected of a crime, the police have the right to ask you for your ID. They explained all that to him, and they tried to be reasonable about it. If the guy has simply complied and shown them his ID or offered to obtain it for them if he didn't have it on him instead of being a pita about it and throwing a tantrum about "The poe-leece!" supposedly targetting him based on the color of his skin, this wouldn't even be a fukking story.

I'm white, I and I can 100% guarantee you that if a cop approached me as I was watering flowers or some bs in my neighbor's yard because someone called it in not recognizing me from a distance like what happened with this guy, I'd end up Chit Creek just as fast as he did. What if you were sitting on your front patio of your house, and cops come and demand your ID because some random idiot reported you and they want to check if you really live there? There was an incident not long ago where some black dude was picking up rubbish at the front of his apartment and a cop saw him and demanded ID to prove he lived there, and eventually 20 cops turned up and caused a huge scene. Cops are out of control there.
