Feelsbadman.

But what can you do. The general public here is just as stupid as in murica since most of the smart and brave people died in ww2 or were poached by the allies and russians to teach them physics.

So I'm just getting ready to be thrown in the gulag when the morons will eventually start blaming covid vaxx sceptics for inflation and shortages, climate change and joggers.

Bet they wish they had nuclear right about now. But that's probably racist/antisemitic somehow.

Endless printing of money. The gravy train never ends for the banks and we all have to pay the bill while our 'leaders' pay our bills with funny money but still tax the **** out of us, just to funnel our taxes to more bombs, their pet projects, or money laundering through businesses in china and ukraine.

Tucker was right about most of that, but global warming is very real. And it is possible to have a green economy, just difficult. We need some innovations and a whole lot more nuclear tech to do it.

That's why we need to cooperate at the global level for sustainable development. Every country, including China, India, and Russia, agreed to reach certain carbon emissions targets and make specific reforms to get there. And China and India have met their targets for the last decade.

It's not self flagellation. It really needs to happen, and honestly if you don't want a bunch of people migrating north, then we are gonna have to address this.

True, but there is also a long payoff time for nuclear, and there is always a small but serious risk of a natural disaster. Waste management is also an issue.

There is no nice solution to climate change, but pretending it isn't happening is also not a solution.

You will certainly see more nuclear tech in the future though, particularly given the recent geopolitical issues with Russia.

You know...assuming we don't have a global thermonuclear war before that...

Incidentally, that could solve the climate issue lmao.

it will probably still be ok for tourists, they can't crank up the prices to those levels without risking to loose all customers lol

not saying prices won't go up at all, just somewhere in the middle probably

it's only the actual population that's getting screwed at full cost smh

Tucker Carlson IS mainstream media compared to twitter or substack. I attempt to watch a broad range of media, though honestly there is far too much for one person to stay on top of even if it was a full time job.

How about Democracy Now w/a piece on the need to end the war in Ukraine?

Anatol Lieven: Ukraine Has Become a Bloody Stalemate. We Need a Settlement to End the Fighting.

A UK piece on the cost of living crisis there. A monthly energy price cap is forecast to be over 3,700 BP in October, onward to near 6,000 BP by next April. Meanwhile the food bank says that people are already refusing simple fresh foods saying that they don't have the means to cook the food [no gas].

‘It keeps me awake at night’ - how the cost of living crisis is affecting everyday life

Or how about this piece on homelessness in Hungary? Watched it last week. The government owns thousands of empty flats, but they aren't letting people move into them saying that they don't have the funds to fix the apartments up. For people who thought homelessness was just a US problem.

BRB one German guy invested in a biomass company OMG THIS MEANS EVERY GERMAN WILL BE BURNING FIREWOOD LIKE IN THE MIDDLE AGES!!!

BTW I invested a huge amount of money in a bamboo biomass company, it's nothing like burning firewood at all.
Just Google "bamboo biomass energy" and you'll find dozens of articles about it, it's a very efficient and sustainable energy source.
So you believe that the overall narrative is false because you don't like the source of the information? I provided others. If I wanted to invest the time I could probably drown you in information.

2. We have to remember that food is heavily commoditized. When talking about "food shortages" in a global economic scale it means that food as a commodity in large scale "food" production will be impacted. Ie less twinkies made with cheap Russian wheat will be produced. It doesn't mean that people will be fighting duels over a tomato. Currently we have a huge global food surplus, we have more than enough to feed the entire planet and then some. People still starve because food is a commodity

Same goes for fertilizer, less commodified agroindustrial monocrpos will be produced. Less sorghum for cattle, less wheat for twinkies, less gmo corn for syrup etc

BRB

1. Let's hope someone with the power to do something about it finds a shard of sanity.

2. Strong privilege. Millions of people survive on those commoditized grains around the world and those grains are also used to raise meat animals to provide a diet with more protein.

One country...over 5 million people facing real privation.

IMO it is possible to have amore sustainableenergy and food system given a reasonable timeline and investment and if we recognize the necessary trade offs that must be navigated.

We aren't not going to be able to have a system where everyone gets everything they want.

- gotta include nuclear base power

- more walking, biking, mass transportation

- local food production and permaculture

- less global trade [energy cost of transport]

Yes. That is surely a big part of it, though not the whole story.

This is also true and was addressed by Matthews in the audio interview I linked earlier.

Humans are going to use all of the available carbon based energy that exists assuming they can get access to it.

- it will all be burned for energy

- it will eventually run out or be impractical to access [same same]

- we as a species should be smart about how we use what remains

I'm aware that we were all told that carbon [CO2] was the reason for rising temperatures but there is some good evidence that this is a false premises.

And, being honest here, prior to the covid pandemic/vaccine/mandates I too believed that of course that must be the correct hypothesis [greenhouse gases/CO2] because the "majority of scientists are in agreement".

Now I think that is about as significant as "4 out of 5 dentists recommend". Because the majority are likely to be financially incentivized, intellectually lazy, or simply dumbasses.

Correct. There is no nice solution to climate change.

Have you also considered that climate change may be:

- Outside of human control?

OR

- Something hubristic apes shouldn't be f*cking around with?

Either way we SHOULD stop polluting our home planet and attempt to find an equilibrium re:available energy.
