Cat food recommendations (reps)

I need to know the Best high quality dry cat food

And I need to know the best high quality wet cat food

Budget friendly for both kinds is cool

Had three cats at one point because the kids wanted them.

They ate purina regular dry food and also regular wet food. They lived to like 15 or so each, one a few years older. None of them had any issues other than regular stuff like getting in fights and such like cats do.

The wet food though, they would not eat the flake or little chunks or anything fancy or special. None of them would.

They only ate what I called the clump. Just looks like a solid thing out of the can. They wouldnt eat it cut up either, had to be canned shape or it would sit and rot until i gave them can shaped clump. Fancy ones call if pate but you know the kind.

Also only seemed to like the gross flavors like liver. If it was something with rice and grass and salmon or fancy things, they didnt eat it. If they sold ones that said internal organs and pancreases, they would have eaten that all day.

Go with a grain free dry food. Forewarning, I changed my kitten from nongrain to grain, and he was ripping his ass off for a week. Smelled horrible for a little 4 pound guy. I should have slowly integrated the grain free with his nongrain food. He was fine though. Kind of funny looking back.

Dry food I use is Life's Abundance. It's good quality. Wet food, I just go with fancy feast. It's what he likes. I don't think the quality between wet food brands differ enough to matter, tbh.

Whatever you do, don't go cheap. They deserve better than that. And if their stomachs can't tolerate it, switch to something else and see a vet, especially if they vomit regularly. I lost my baby boy Tony one week ago to intestinal cancer (lymphoma) which possibly started as irritable bowel disease. He was 12

My Cat is really happy with the Purina Cat Indoor in the green bag dry food. It's pretty reasonable and she gets a can of wet food, flakes with gravy, any brand every week.

She doesn't get sick and her fur is nice and soft with this combo.

Diamond Naturals Indoor is a very solid dry food for the price. It's not ultra expensive, but it has a much better profile than stuff you can buy at Target.

Truthfully, most cats should be on a wet food diet. Kidney issues are the #1 killer of cats. Most cats don't drink enough water. Wet food is a way to supplement that. Have heard this from every vet I've ever used.

Fancy Feast is vet recommended for cats (srs, not marketing bs)

Dry food is crap unless you buy niche expensive stuff. But your cat may not like it. I bought an expensive ass bag two weeks ago of quality protein dry food with no corn or fillers. Cat would not eat it. But she will tear up meow mix

Honestly Fancy Feast for portion control, protein + water, keeps cat weight healthy with no blood sugar issues

I'm sorry to hear that man. Theres no guarantee you can do anything about kidney issues even if you catch them, but I feel better at least trying to prevent things where I can. Always have a water fountain to encourage drinking, and always try to feed wet on a regular basis.

I tried a fountain but my cats weren't interested, plus it was a pain to maintain. I recommend just keeping bowls of water in random places around the house. My cats drink more from those than their regular bowl

OP I used to get special food at Pet Food Express but my new kitty ate Purina One at the shelter so we moved them to that. But we will slowly mix in the Pet Food Express brand soon. It’s diet food and the new kitty is skinny so we want to get more weight on him first. The other cat is overweight.

Mine has been on purina too. After reading about some notable recalls on that brand and pretty bad reviews overall I’ve decided to get her something better, higher quality. So the search began. I have had her about 5 days.

She is 8 months fwiw. I just adopted her the previous owner gave me her old food purina, some litter. and some toys she plays with. Her name is Blossom. She is underweight too. I want her to be as healthy as possible.

Oh really. I would like to get mine back on high quality food as well, but the new kitty threw up the older kitty's food. My aunt said to slowly mix in the new food with the old so that the new kitty's stomach adjusts.

Avoid the dry stuff-caused a lot of cat deaths in the last few years. Never seen a cat that didn't like Whiskas, although I think it is pricey. Kitekat used to be popular as well. Felix seems to be a good brand.

She is 6 lbs. gray girl. The other is one of her siblings, a boy else I would’ve adopted together. I did have cats previously like over 14 years ago. Boys and they sprayed everywhere so I wanted female/s this time. She is shy but very much warmed up to me and likes being petted and scratched. A rehome fee of $100 I paid to previous owner.

I have dogs mostly, and a chinchilla too, They eat better than I. I’m just lost even was overwhelmed about proper feline diet. When I made this thread.

I stayed searching purina one and read all sorts of worrying stuff on it yesterday!

Our cats live on Costco tuna and Iams sensitive stomach dry food. When the cats were kittens they developed bad allergies. The vet suggested trying different foods to see if the allergic reactions went away. The only canned food they could eat is tuna. In someways it has worked out well for us and cats as the tuna is a little bit cheaper than regular canned cat food.
