Do you guys wear bike helmets with your bicycle?

I have an ebike and I notice a lot of people here do not wear helmets on bicycles, or mopeds.
Because I don't post enough to care to and I forget the next day

Did you just assume I ride a bicycle?

But anyway I live in Melbourne, Australia. THAT Melbourne, Australia.

Yes, have to model appropriate behavior for kids.

Would wear one on long rides regardless because I’m not retarded, but now I’ll put it on just to go to the mailbox. Don’t want kids thinking it’s optional.

Trust me when I say this, you want a full face helmet if you have anE-BIKE....Especially if you're going speeds above 40mph. Its LITERALLY a motorcycle. They labelled my crash a motorcycle accident.

Allot of you know my story on here and I would have been able to walk away with some scratches, little blood, bruising and a fractured wrist only. But instead I got a grade 4 concussion, was out for 6 min, knocked out three teeth, 200+ stitches in mouth and on face, my entire upper lip came off and was hanging by a thread so I needed facial reconstructive surgery. I also don't remember a full 3 weeks of my life after the accident (front wheel came off @ 40mph, wasn't even my mistake). Once again thanks to the bros that donated to me, it all went to my dentist bill which is over 10k now pushing 15k. But everything is MUCH better and I'm nearly recovered after almost a year.

If anyone thinks wearing a helmet is for pu$$ies....You have failed at life and you're a spectacular retard.

Most people do now
mountain bike you never see anyone without one now
same with road
commuting is like 75% here with helmet use

I wear one unless I am riding around places with slow traffic....ex the beach areas around here where you ride to save on parking. If I am training on the road (hit by car) or mountain biking (crash) I for sure wear one

I would rather lose an arm or leg over more brain damage

IMO if you're not wearing a helmet you're probably a low test vagina because you aren't going HAM. People who wear helmets know they need to because they're adrenaline junkies and like to push the limits.

So if you're riding your bike like a grandma then of course you don't need a fuking helmet cuz you aren't doing anything fun.

There is a 100% chance you will bite it at some point so you keep that in mind, no one rides a bike or motorcycle without falling over at least once.

not the end of the world and might not hit your head but ebikes go faster than regular bikes. people dont look for regular bikes so they damned sure arent looking for one that goes twice as fast as a regular one. They wil happily run you down and blame you for it.

You dont have to wear one of those stupid looking ones but some protection wont hurt.

Ebikes are suppose to help you go uphill. Its not meant for you to not pedal the rest of the way. Otherwise get a motorcycle.

No

Most ebikes have a throttle on them like mine and it has gone as high as 57mph

Its not as simple as that and you're making yourself look completely brain dead by typing that nonsense

You also don't have to register an ebike, but you do with a motorcycle (time + $$$ + inconvenience)

Try talking about something you're educated on and stop assuming you know everything cuz you don't....nobody does

Meh. The way I see is that an Ebike should be used to pedal normally and electric motor kicks in when going up hill.

Well you're not taking into account other peoples perspective and also the truth.

Ebikes have many purposes. Going up hill is not the only purpose.

Dude, you have a bike that goes up to 50 miles. You are required by law to wear a helmet. I think you even need a license for moped.

When I bike, I don't go more than 10-15mph. I will never crash and I will never get hurt because guess what, I'm not dumb. With your logic, people should be wearing helmets just jogging.

Speed is what will hurt you the most. That's why I go slow enough to the point where I can safely ride without a helmet. Going 20+, you need a helmet.

Also, if you manage to crash a bike, you arn't fit enough to ride one. I've never encountered a situation where I would crash my bike. You can literally see everything in front of you in HD, unlike a car.

In all seriousness I understand what you're saying hence my granny reference

But if you're riding next to cars what you said doesn't matter

We all know a helmet can save your life / prevent you from being a vegetable

Why on earth would you argue otherwise?

I don't use a helmet simply because I go slow on purpose so that if I did happen to crash, it would be negliable. The guys who go faster definitely needs helmet. I don't like speeding especially on a bike. So if you don't go fast enough and you're mature enough, you don't really need a helmet.

think of it this way, do you really think a wall of concrete hitting the side of your head at 6mph is not going to kill you, or at the very least give you brain damage ?
