Many balance transfer cards charge 1-10% to transfer the balance. It's not really 0% anymore.

I do agree that everyone should have at least 8-10k in their bank account for "emergency funds" and just keeping it there. I know the argument being that you shouldn't keep a certain amount just sitting in your checking/savings, but you really never know what's gonna happen and you might need that cash ASAP.

it's still a small price to pay in terms of loans.

i'm under the assumption that you'd pay off a couple K after those 18 months. so let's say it's 8k...still cheaper debt than paying a personal loan.

idk...never been in that situation., but I've thought about what I'd do if I absolutely had to.
