I used to live in a place where I had fairly exclusive access to a half Olympic sized pool. I loved it, had a swim coach, felt my test going through the roof...
Then I moved. I think a pool is GOAT for active recovery too.

I swim 3 or 4 times a week typically and for me have found it can make my back sore if I swim to long.
It probably depends on what swimming stroke done.

I swim 2 miles 3 times a week. I have a pool at home, so it's convenient.

Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!
The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.
They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

At my peak I was swimming 3-5 hours per day, 6 days a week. We'd swim like 30+ miles per week. Completely burned me out. I avoid the pool whenever possible.

I find swimming a PITA simply because there's only specific lane times, you have to travel and lots of people doing lane swimming are total douches or floating old people that need to get the hell out of the fast lane. When I was doing triathlons I hated training for the swim unless I was doing an actual class with a trainer.
Much easier to put on shoes and run or get on my bike.
