Without using Google, out of those people I mentioned - how many do you even know what band(s) they sang for or any of their songs?

I like AIC more than Imagine Dragons but I've always loved alternative music the most and AIC falls into that category. I loved this alternative radio station and they just canceled it. I'm so bummed.

I missed AIC in concert on Monday but it's not the same without Layne. I still found the tribute to Layne and Mike touching when I saw AIC in 2019.

Isn't Bruce Dickinson Iron Maiden? And of course I know Dio since I was an 80s kid.

I feel embarrassed because I call myself an AIC fnatic yet off the top of my head I couldn’t guessed exactly how old he would’ve been yesterday.

I got Billy idol blasting in the background right now, but putting Dirt album on next and will just listen to it from Them Bones on…

Holy Diver is one of the goat albums. Sounds amazing if you play it on a real system. Drums are fantastic.

It's so good i don't even know what the best song on the album is.

Well this thread is old so Layne's Staley actual birthday is August 22. He was born in 1967 so he would have been 55? I'm so sad that he's no longer with us. Heroin is one helluva drug, but he did crack, too.

It was a loss for a lot of us. My bad I didn’t see the start date for this. I never shot it up, it is a hard hard drug. It’s super addictive that anytime I even start to think about the effects I begin to struggle not to start using it again. Crack especially. Damn his girlfriend to hell!!! I Condemn and Damn her more than I condemn Courtney for the Kurt loss.

I’m on several Layne Staley fan pages and some people even defend his gf Demri but she got him on heroin! She ended up dying from it and he was so devastated he just gave up on life.

They had a very codependent relationship. Why couldn’t these talented men find quality women?

I know all those singers and I’m a fan of most of them, but no they don’t hold a candle to Layne in my opinion. He had incredible range, as well amazing power and versatility. Most of all what made him the best in my opinion was his ability to express such emotion in his voice, you felt exactly the emotion he was trying to make you feel. He did that better than anybody and he was an incredible lyricist.

Watching interviews of other vocalists talking about Layne they say the same type of things. I don’t think many would consider it an unreasonable opinion have him in the GOAT discussion. The grunge era produced an extremely talented generation of vocalists. Guys like Cornell and Vedder all also in the conversation, Kurt was fantastic as well although not on the level of those 3.
