I'm a big believer in many major conspiracy theories like JFK assassinated by the CIA, 9/11 was an inside job, covid was released intentionally to advance globohomo, vaccines cause allergies and neurological damage including autism, etc. To me those things make sense because they boil down to people doing bad things for power and money.

I think with this sort of thing there are at least 2 levels.

- Does this story contain any truthful elements?

- Are there a meaningful number of people who believe this story is real/truthful?

Because these two thing can operate independently. It could be there is no truth, or some truth, or a lot of truth, though it may be esoteric or hidden [parables]. But as far as people believing that there is truth and acting as if there is truth- that isn't dependent on actual objective truthfulness.

Which is a wordy way of saying that if a lot of people believe some weird story, or if people who hold power believe some weird story, then knowing the story has some value because it gives you knowledge of the believers and how they may act in the world regardless of the objective truth of the story.

The issue is not is this stuff is true or not. THEY believe that it's true and base their actions on it. So knowing it helps to determine which way the political winds are going to blow both long and short term.

Loan money to countries
Banks ask for interest to be paid back with the loan.
But there is NOWHERE outside of the bank that the extra money in interest can come from, as all money in circulation comes from the banks
So the govt has to ask the bank for more money (with interest on that) to pay back the original interest from the prior loan.
Perpetual debt slavery over generation upon generation.

Loan 3 shekels, ask for 4 back, but there is nowhere that extra shekel can possibly come from to repay the loan.

What a con.

I absolutely believed when I was a child, same as children believe adults about all sort of things. But I was also unable to make sense of all the inherent inconsistency, arbitrary seeming rules, and hypocrisy and cherry picking [we follow this rule, but not that rule].

Then over the last few years I've had Christian people show up for me when no one else did and when I didn't expect it. And there seems to be abundant proof of evil in the world- something beyond selfishness and animal type behavior.

So I can say that IME there are some people still "walking the walk" and IMO what looks like some anti-human force[s] at work. I can see the value in the positive attributes of a shared faith and attempting to be Christ-like [love your neighbor, judge not, teach and if you must use words]. I've also seen a lot of ugliness and hatred being done in the name of religion.
