This is actually what makes a “good person” though technically. Caring about what other people think in pa sense. I remember some science show I was watching on morality or something and they’ve done studies with kids where if they leave candy in a room and say don’t take it, the kids will take it, but if they tell them there is a secret guardian watching it they won’t.

It’s the balance of self desire vs consequence vs public perception.

Usually by adult hood you realize “doing the right thing” even if not being watched is the “right” thing to do. Because even if you aren’t being watched you understand it’s better for everyone not just yourself and doing what’s good for the greater good outweighs “selfishness”.

A lot of people are morons though and need the threat of consequence.

I carry door wedges with me, then I strategically place loose shopping carts around peoples' vehicles, then put the wedges in the wheels so they can't be moved easily, then retreat and hide in a bush and watch as people struggle to free themselves from the makeshift prison I have created for them.

chances are this cart boy goes to a restaurant and doesnt tip or this cart boy goes to any other retail or service industry place and reciprocates the same ****ty behavior as is affiliated with someone not returning a shopping cart. So the logic is flawed. why do you care about the cart boy that doesn't care about anyone else?

I always return carts and sometimes I'll grab others around the parking lot and take them to the cart thing too. I also will sometimes fix the carts in the corral thing, if they're all out of whack making it so that not enough fit.

at my local mega mall theres a bunch of ****** running around rounding up carts constantly
so everyone just puts the carts out of the way somehwere near their vehicle
nice coastal suburban area

chicken and the egg i guess, did they hire ****** cos people were lazy with carts, or did people get lazy with carts cos ****** were always scooping up carts?

at another smaller standalone supermarket, no ****** and I always put the cart away
