Have any of you actually measured or noticed how much creatine helps?

Is it worth taking?

Or is it a waste of money?

I just started taking it again about 3 months ago, and have put on probably 20 pounds of muscle. It’s the reason I was able to break through a plateau.

Creatine is the most studied performance supplement of all time. Yes, it works.

But recognize that it is meant to be a daily supplement, not a pre workout. Also you need to 'saturate' your body with it to get it's full effect, which can take weeks unless you heavily front load your dosing. Which is totally safe.

Creatine does not improve muscle growth, it improves performance in the gym. You still will need to put in the work, but it will improve your capabilities.

Here's a pretty good summary of over 230 studies on creatine. Should tell you in plain terms everything you may want to know, both good and bad.

yes it 100% helps in squeezing out those last few reps or making a rep that you'd only be able to get half of without creatine.

i stopped taking it though because 1.) I'm almosdt certain it prevents me from falling asleep easily. 2.) potentially accelerates balding.

Overrated. Waste of money. Supplements in general are a huge scam.

All you need is a multi-vitamin, some protein powder if you can't eat enough throughout the day, and some black coffee if you need an energy boost. That's it. Anything else is just throwing money away hoping for a placebo effect.

Yes it works but I don't use it because it makes me have to get up multiple times at night to piss. Always fuking pissing when I'm flooded with creatine. I eat red meat daily anyway so I'd say I get enough from that.

I'm sure it gives a miniscule edge.... But if you aren't an elite athlete competing at the highest levels of sport, then any "benefit" you're seeing is likely placebo.

Also, are there any placebo studies related to creatine? Or just dosages followed by someone lifting more weight than the prior month?

On a cold Friday afternoon, I had come home from school. I had been thinking of the gym all day. I was hungry, didn't have any lunch. In fact, I didn't eat because I spent the money. For the past month I was saving up for something. Something special which I bought at GNC. I was surprised they didn't ask for ID; I was pretty sure the cashier noticed how nervous I was. Anyways, my mom asked my how my day was when I got home, but I ignored her. I have more important things to do. I run to the bathroom and unpack my bag. In my school bag is a white plastic bag from GNC. I open the bag, first removing the receipt and flushing it down the toilet to get rid of the evidence. My heart was racing now. I unpack the creatine monster from the bag.

I wonder what people will be asking me when they see that I will be 50lbs heavier. Should I say I was just eating a lot? I remove the label from the tub and tear it into a thousand small pieces. I flush that down the toilet, too. It is time now. I run up to my room when my mom ask me what I am holding. I panic, sweat drips down my forehead and my teeth chatter. "Mom, it's just for a school project". "What project?" "I don't know mom I just started it!". A tear runs down my cheek. I run upstairs and open the creatine, scooping upservings into a clear water bottle. What have I gotten myself into? I fill it with water and drink it. There is no turning back now. The creatine monster is inside me now, it will control me. What should I do if I die? I cant let my family know about this.

I open the creatine tub and throw it all out the window; a white cloud of mysterious dust sparkles into the wind so graciously. I feel the substance taking control of me; I am now the monster. I walk downstairs, its time to work out; time to get big. Now I worry, I don't want to get too big; people will think I use steroids. I do use steroids. No I don't. Creatine. All I see is the weights now, I am almost downstairs when I hear "Do you want a cookie I just baked". I know I do not have time for this **** now. "No mom I do not want a cookie" I walk in the basement and drop to my knees before the weights, tears running down my cheeks. I turn to the right and look at myself in the mirror. Oh god, what have I done?
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Without delay i grabbed my gym bag and headed out the door, stopping for a moment to consider hiding this dangerous substance should i die in the gym. I clutched my bag and scrambled to my car. On arriving at the gym I consumed the creatine beast and clutched my mens health magazine as tears rolled down my face, i had gone down the path of no return. I sat in my car until the initial effects wore off. Exploding into Ballys i quickly flashed my badge and ran to the drinking fountain to replenish my bodies need for water. My muscles were straining, The creatine steroids were transforming my body into the brad pitt physique body builders yearn to achieve. I knew the worst was yet to come.

It honestly depends on what you are expecting, whether it is worth it or not.

If you aren't lean, it won't really help with aesthetics because it will just make you look puffy. Can make you look a little more 'full' if you are lean though.

In terms of strength/performance, I personally didn't note any top end (near max or max) strength gains, but the extra water/hydration in the muscles does seem to help with ensuring good reps, good sets, good workouts, etc. So a little bit ofoverallperformance increase.

Generally creatine adds 1 rep to a typical set of 6-10 reps.

Different people respond differently, people who take in a lot of salt and meat will notice less of a difference, but generally your muscles will be bigger and you will be faster stronger and have better cardio and recovery with creatine.

One annoying thing I noticed is that libido can take a major hit… I have no idea why that is. But that freaks me out. So I dont use creatine.

And you will have to increase your water intake for obvious reasons.

Real answer this time, I don't use it any more because I felt the water retention made me look too soft. I do think it helped me get stronger though. Not massively stronger but up a higher set of dumbbells or so on some exercises.

It's worth it as a beginner to get you going for sure, but from an aesthetics standpoint I would drop it after you feel like you've taken advantage of the modest strength boost it can give. I didn't really notice getting weaker when I stopped or anything.

Gives you that bloatlord strange look, makes you always thirsty, puffy face, hair loss, inconvenience. It's just a meme product tbh and it's most famous for being a code word for juice

I notice a little better muscle stamina, and maybe a slight strength increase but it's not worth the bloat/softening and pissing 8 times between my workout at 5pm and going to bed at 9

Mainly take it for the muscle fullness; gnarliest pumps. Performance-wise, ehh. There is an improvement though.
