can someone explain this coordination please? (srs)



on the benny greb one watch from 1:35

i'm a drummer and I never learnt to keep the hi hat going, so I'm kinda re learning keep the hi hat going while doing other stuff (fills, grooves on the ride etc).

what those guys are doing is crazy.do you think they're actually counting or just going with the flow?

They don't "count" as they play (Danny has specifically said before that he avoids counting, presumably unless he's figuring something out), but they obv 100% know that they're in time. It takes some time to get used to the left mode going metronome mode, but once you have it, you can pretty much for get it about everything.

The samba pattern (adding the right foot in) will take a big more, but it's really not too bad.

The one that always tricked me (which I imagine I just need to sit down for a few weeks and learn) is playing the clave pattern on the left foot. You play - 2 3 - 1 - + - 4.

yeah man it's already helping a lot (the left foot being a metronome) but just takes more practice and doing it.

Yeah, I really didn't find the learning curve too bad for it. The beginning's slow, but after a year, I had pretty much forgotten that you could play without a left foot metronome.

These days, I'm apartmentcel-ing with an electronic kit. Roland TD-17. I really like the electronic kits, though fuk are the stock sounds bad on this one. Really need to get around to downloading some better sounds one day.
