Do you think we’re spoiled by too much choice?

Back in the day you would put on a movie and sit down and watch it. You’d have to go to blockbuster and it was a semi type event, I’m going to watch a movie.

Now people literally have movies just playing all the time. Schindlers list on the background while they do the damn dishes.

Same deal with music. I remember going to Sam Goody and buying Sublimes album and just listening to it. Sitting and enjoying the music, the album booklet.

Spotify kinda gave you access to everything so moments like that don’t really happen anymore.

I can order damn Vietnamese Thai Italian Weinerschnitzel and a little Mexican man on a bike shows up with whatever cuisine I want.

It’s like the availability of everything means nothings really special anymore.

Definitely. My patience and attention span has gone to chit. Everythings available instantly all the time, and if you dont like it there’s 500 more.

This is why sloots are so much more flaky and vapid now too.

Yes absolutely. Excessive consumerism is getting really obnoxious, for one. People aren't really close and attentive with others in relationships, either. Everyone is too distracted and head-in-the-clouds to be attentive to what is in front of them and enjoy it.

You're typing this out like you know more than 5 people in the whole world intimately.

For a lot of us, having too much choice becomes so crippling that you don't even end up making a choice. Attention spans, RIP.

Absolutely.

Distracted is an even better word.

I walked through Times Square with my wife yesterday and literally everyone was holding out there phone recording themselves.

Zero people were actually looking around instead they were like living through their phones.

Very peculiar.

Yes. Even with something as simple as clothes. I literally gutted my closets and found so much stuff I don't wear or doesn't fit me.

Yup I can't stand it. Every time I go out or go to dinner or something, I am usually the only one not on my phone. I just sit and observe and even all the boomers are on their phone all the time. People are obsessed with it.

I almost never take pictures or videos. I have no need or urge too. Nowadays everyone thinks everything needs to be documented for some reason.

Yeah I have to agree. My attention span is gone too. I really struggle to watch TV/movies. I get bored way too easily and maybe it's because there's little worth watching these days but I always want to turn something off and look for something else.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Absolutely... There's a lot of distractions these days

But also a lot of opportunities and information availability. It's two-sided

A part of me is tempted to go full Luddite and get rid of my smart phone. The light phone 2 looks pretty nice.

I just don’t want to participate in the madness anymore. All socials except this have long since been deleted.

Yep, literally endless matches for them. Probably can catch a Chad slumming it for an easy lay pretty regularly too.

Anyone else find this infinitely depressing? Like it prevents me from enjoying the moment just seeing that chit everywhere.

It depends on your definition of spoiled. In the past, I feel like movie quality was higher but there were fewer. Now there are a ton more movies, but the overall quality is probably 75% at most.

This is kinda how everything is. NFL players are not as good as they were in the past, but teams are generally more even. Girls give worse blowjobs nowadays, but there are more girls willing to do them. Etc.

Well it's true. I have noticed this with gaming, like it's easy to have massive collections of games available to you, especially if you got these new retro gaming systems that has a ton of old roms for various old platforms. Like when you got a phuck ton of games available, like thousands for all sorts of chit, it can be really hard to just settle on something or pick something out unless there was already something in mind that you wanted to see.

Same problem I can have with streaming services. Too many movies and TV shows on offer, makes it hard to just pick something out, and you spend a lot of time just looking over chit.

anglo culture is stupid. We can predict most of what someone needs, and 90% of people are permanently stupid enough not to come up with how to do things themselves and need someone to make these decisions for them.

Attention span comes back.

I’ve been bookmaxxing it’s the way to go and far more enjoyable to me now.

Light jazz + incense + book. Trust me it’s the goat. A slower and more relaxing way to spend time.
