Any brahs dealt with high cholesterol (LDL) before? (86k reps)

Got some bloodwork done recently, and LDL was pretty elevated. Pic, they use mol here for some reason idk why

Surprise level: 0. Been living off pizza, beer, and microwave/oven meals for months now. Probably did cardio on 4 instances the last 9 months srs.

HDL level was pretty decent.

Anyway, as of 2 days ago doing the following:

20-25mins cardio daily
No fast food/high saturated/trans fats/ready-made micro meals packed with fats and sodium
Incorporating more healthy fats (nuts, avocado, frying in olive oil instead of butter)
Reduced alcohol
Fookton of omega 3s for HDL

What am I missing?

Had slightly elevated LDL, high resting HR and blood pressure. Ramped up the cardio and was back to normal within 6 months.

I lowered mine in about 5 months from 184 to 130, and still working on it.

I reduced junk food & red meat, and started eating more fibrous foods like beans. I'm pretty much vegetarian for 2 out of 3 meals a day.

It's kinda odd -- about 10 years ago I had perfect blood levels of everything when doing keto, but the last time I did keto my levels were shiit. Not sure if age just caught up to me or what.

I recently got back on fish oil after the last test so I'll see if it makes much of a difference.

Edit: lowered dietary fat and dairy, also.

Elevated LDL is usually down to saturated fat. Outside diet, supplements should help to lower it, as well as your blood pressure.

Based on a number of studies, I went with and have had good results with garlic across a few months (heard turmeric is good also).

Red yeast rice, Lecithin (Soy products), krill oil and turmeric.
I've done hour plus cardio a day and it didn't increase HDL significantly, so idk how to rise that. But the LDL you can lower with diet and those sups.

I just don't know if the sups are a false reading or healthy to take long term.
You need to keep an eye on your Triglycerides levels too.

There's no solid evidence that cholesterol numbers alone indicate anything. Triglycerides and inflammatory markers mean a lot more.

one time i ate tons of butter and took my total cholesterol from ~185 to 393 (10 mmol/L)

LDL was 200-something

the sloot doctor started talking about meds and i was like nah, standby

then i coomed back in there a few months later and it was back to normal

she was like ok i guess you don't need meds at the moment even though i did what would be a medical miracle lol

Guys.

Why do you poison yourselves. I know it’s enjoyable in the moment to eat the chit you eat, but living off fresh meat and fresh vegetables makes you feel good all the time. It’s tasty too just not gluttonous, your stomache shouldn’t make you feel like you can’t move for hours on end.

Best of luck to whatever you guys find works but if you eat whatever is local to you for fruits and veggies when it’s in season with proper seasoning it should be delicious. And just keep using different types of meats that you buy in meat form.

That’s what food is. Everything else is a snack. You need atleast 80% food, 20% snacks.

I feel like people start killing themselves when the ratio tips beyon 60% food 40% snacks.

You're acting like practically every "doctor"'s first response is to push some pills or other drugs (and vax). That's not limited just to sloot ones.

I meant to mention this back when I posted above, but I've been struggling to get my cholesterol under control for a few years. My primary doctor kept trying to push statins although my endocrinologist didn't think I had enough risk factors to warrant it, so I avoided medication. I also have since switched back to a female primary doctor I saw years ago who moved to a different town, but it's worth the drive.

Anyway, supplements I tried that didn't help much if at all:

- garlic pills of various kinds (aged/fermented, plain etc.)
- sunflower lecithin (Maybe soy would be better? But try to avoid soy)
- fish oil (I've since started taking this again but a slightly better brand and a higher dose)
- apple pectin and psyllium (good for dat dere toilet I guess, but getting more fiber from real foods I believe helps more).
- turmeric and ginger

If I had to buy any of those supplements for possible general health again, I'd probably stick with turmeric, ginger, garlic, fish oil -- but for me outside of dietary changes they didn't help my cholesterol significantly.

My buddy didn't have positive results with krill oil so I never tried that.

Duckliver above has good general advice, I think. Fresh and unprocessed meat and vegetables is a good place to start. As mentioned, I reduced red meat which seems to help, but I was also eating a lot of ground and not good cuts of beef.

Edit: Also adding in a ton of walking and jogging now that the weather is cooler

low cholesterol is bad.

"high" cholesteral is just some number they picked. There's nothign wrong with it and is normal. Mainly used by drs to throw statins at healthy people.

if high cholesterial is so bad, why do low and normal cholesteroal people die of heart attacks?

cholesterol means nothing. It's a scam. These are the same doctors who want to give you statins but ignore the fact, they are 50lbs overweigth themselves eating garbage.
Weight Loss: Go carnivore or keto/low carb. Create calorie deficit. Buy packaged healthy meals if needed. Meat is good and heals, stop being lied to.

There is a ton of evidence to show LDL is an independent risk marker for heart disease; in fact, at this point the consensus is that it is causal. This is irrespective of triglycerides and hdl:

Nonsense. The risk-free range for ldl is below 70mgl. This is why "normal" cholesterol can sometimes still be problematic.

But even leaving that aside, your question is like asking, "why do non-smokers still get cancer?"

Cholesterol used to be a bit high but it was normal on my last test. My blood pressure has always been slightly high. ~135/85. Sometimes higher at the doctor because I hate going there. I thought it would go down a lot when I pretty much stopped drinking but no luck. Trying to really up the cardio once I get my heart monitor off and the dizziness I have post Covid goes away. That should get it in a more normal range.
