Right now I'm trying to pile up as much cash as possible. I do not believe we've hit a bottom yet. Unlike doomers I do believe the markets will recover. So I'm mainly trying to be positioned to 'buy the dip' as heavily as possible.

Yes inflation eats away at your cash. But unless you're holding hundreds of thousands for years I wouldn't stress it. Especially with these markets.

Dollar cost averaging over a long term is the winning strategy.

Why do libs enjoy being poor? They seriously vote for this.
The average American is going to have to pay $800 more PER MONTH to afford the same $300k house you could have bought under Trump. That doesn't even include how much house prices have gone up in the past two years.

it's called risk, equities and other similar assets are risk-on assets, if you want a """safe""" place for money and """safe""" means you don't tolerate downturns then, you can get the risk free rate on bonds.

everyone and their mom wants an investment with higher returns than the risk free rate but without higher risk. good luck finding that.

Brooooooo

You can’t just take that approach with the current environment, especially with what’s been going on in the bond market.

It’s either dollar bills or speculative goods / land atm.

You really can’t go wrong with actually being in a position to have cash surplus right now, while everyone else is starting to open the debt floodgates.

I don't understand the mindset of retail investors.

when covid hits and the world falls apart, they scream 'don't fight the fed'

but when the fed starts pulling out the free money, they fight the fed.

does not compute.

if you're poor, can goods are a good idea. Companies are now revising prices every month. So if you can buy years worth of food, you're ahead of the game by 25 30%. Walmart has raised prices that much on basic stuff like chicken and taquitos stuff like that. Run of the mill things like a Denison chili. You're f***** all around. Doing this. You won't be taxed on it. It will be like you're making money because if you don't do this you're paying out the ass later.

If only there wasn’t about to be global supply chain issues, production issues, military conflict, and energy shortages as well.

Oh and it’s the worst inflation has been since Greenspan first started kicking the debt bubble down the road in the 80s.

In all seriousness I want people to think about what really fukking happened during Covid.

We made up money for our entire economy to function for a year. And used it to do absolutely nothing. No progress was made. Not only that but due to supply disruptions and our current supply chain I would say what happened is the equivalent of negative growth.

The correction for that is what, depends how far back the global economy gets set back, but I would say we’re in a place that looks like the late 90s early 2000s.

That’s my uninformed uneducated opinion. But I would hazard if that much cash equivalent can be taken out of the system and a few billion people die off, or the world radically changes how humans survive. We might come out of this all right.

Always be buying into the market. Statistically, between the early 1900s and now, waiting to buy a market dip is inferior to always buying when you have the cash.

Check into a Vanguard fund that focused on consumer staples. I want to say right now it's down just 6% from it's all time high and also offers a 2.3% dividend.

I’m not saying you should give a chit. There’s nothing you can do about it.

But pretending it’s the same as past corrections when you have stuff like this staring you in the face..
