Because we spend our whole life saying "alright you?" When somebody asks how we are, even if we're about to have a gangrenous leg amputated. Teaches you how to act ded srs

As a Yank, I can admit the British are better actors overall.

I think Matthew Macfadyen just won an Emmy for some show. Good for him. Ripper Street was great and MI-6 wasn't so bad, but I think you Brits called it something else.

British are more into theater so they learn versatile roles from being a "gentleman" to "gangsta" etc etc.

Also, the accents don't hurt for their craft.

Gary Oldman in True Romance is amazing acting prob a 10/10 that I've ever seen I'm glad he finally got his Oscar.

They were taught properly generally speaking. You would work your way up from spear carrier to Hamlet, which gave the actor plenty of proper experience and time to learn your craft and grow as an actor.

People from the UK come from a long line of literary cultural work, poetry, drama, writing, theatre, comedy, etc. It’s Western civilization distilled into an Island that speaks English. They used to basically rule the world at one point in time.

It’s a highly sophisticated and successful culture that has inherited wisdom over a very long period of time. As such they have nearly perfected certain areas of performative art.

Of course, every culture has their own worthwhile art forms. But some are better than others.

I would say that German culture dominates classical music. Japanese culture dominates meditative practices focused on a single task. Every area of the world has their own value.

But damn can those Brits act.

You forgot Hugh Laurie btw.

I've had some roadman come up to me asking me "what you saying blud?"

Even after I have confirmed with himthat I did not saying anything to them, they continue to press and say "what you saying now blud?"

Had to steal his girlfriend though - had to remind them of American superiority. I met him a few days later and he said he understood.

Wider worldview, I can see.

Better educated? I’m not sure about that. You could be right, statistically.

Not arrogant? Come on, man. Brits are plenty arrogant but I don’t see how that would factor into acting ability. They have every right to be arrogant though.

When you say better etc, are you comparing yourself to the rest of the world? or a country in particular?

I see a lot of Aussies stealing traditional Brit roles these days though. They seem to be more aesthetic/taller

LOL goes against your not arrogant thing though

Not Ignorant? lol half the U.K talk like Jamaicans at this point.

I'd admit the U.K has better actors. But the U.S the King.

Most Murican actors act as versions of themself, liike Cage, Goldblum and Cruise

British actors take on roles and can be competely different from one role to another

Ben Kingsley Gandhi and Sexy Beast .......... thats a real actor taking on roles

Not everyone is Pakistani or Nigerian LOL

And people from those countries WISH that the Germans or even Dutch colonized them so they could freely move there instead of the UK

maybe because of William Shakespeare

England has given the world many wonderful things, but their contribution to literature is unequaled
