How do you know his legs are small?

And he did it for a single, big deal? Not for reps

Pics of legs?

You're not one of those non lifters that sees smaller calves (though I wouldn't call those small) and assumes the rest of the leg is that way under shorts are you?

Is 400 supposed to be a lot? I could do that before I turned 20. Srsly. I never did a 1RM, but did 350x10 at age 19. Granted I had run sprints for years and squatted on a regular basis for a few years already by then.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

I used to think that heavy weight = big thick legs...... only to realize it requires many things over time to grow legs.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

no, i'm not talking about his calves

at the same time my lifts are pretty weak

Just basing this off what i have to aim for...if squatting 405 only gives you that...wtf I may as well just hope on lmao

It isn't only about the weight, but what kind of legs are you hoping to achieve?

Squat 315 atg too many times and I'll bet you'll hate life and have some chunky leg meat.
I'm back, bitches!

Strength doesn't necessarily mean large muscles. I've met plenty of people with ridiculous strength that doesn't show.

Arnold said Wilt was the strongest person he's met and he's pretty slender.

How much weigh you move doesn't really have much to do with muscle mass. For the hypertrophy you should be doing 10-12 rep ranges. And the majority of guys that focus on their squat, bench and dead-lifts do those movements in the 1-5 rep range. Really take note on who moves big numbers in the gym with the big three lifts. Its either fats or slimmer guys with good leverage.

The lowest rep ranges I do now are 10. (Old brah checking in).

I keep waiting to see and hear ankles snap under all that weight. Lucky if I can squat half that, and my calves actually show.

most people squat with posterior/hip dominance and not quad dominance

if they are quad dominant they usually use their posterior chain to "spot" their quads when they face too much challenge, thus never stimulating quad or adductor growth.

Most people do not setup their squats in a way where they track their knees out so they never grow their adductors.

Lots of lower back squatters as well.

The more muscles you have involved in a lift the more chance you have of muscles "spotting" other muscle groups when they get fatigued. This makes it very difficult to create a high demand for full motor unit recruitment in the target muscle and instead you are just getting through each rep as efficiently as possible which isnt optimal for hypertrophy of the legs.

I thought the same chit. You can't even see his quads or glutes/lower back. Brah might just be a hard gainer for calves. I feel his pain there. :/

Glutes and lower back are typically MUCH stronger than quads so they will take over lifting the load when quads get a demand for more motor units to fire, thus limiting the stimulus to quads and adductors.

Quads and adductors will make up the majority of the mass in the thighs/legs thats why I keep alluding to them.

I'm 6'3 with high quad insertions - I smash legs and they're strong but I never get that low tear drop quad muscle.

Genetics or cope from me

Muscle size is relative. You need to be specific. I’m assuming you’re talking about bodybuilding standards since we’re on a bb forum.
