I identify with this logic. I grew up playing soccer, but stopped watching it when I stopped playing it, I picked up tennis in my adulthood and started watching it, but the day I stop playing I won't watch it anymore.

One "sport" I cringe at people that watch is Formula 1, coincidentally these are the same fans that argue endlessly about the complexities of the sport, etc.

Boating. I've never seen the appeal of just driving around a lake in a boat with no real destination in mind. Probably why so many people get bored with it and sell their boat a few years after buying it.

Now if you're talking about going on extended trips where you sleep and eat on it then I can see the adventure factor in that.

So many people here have a boat. Boating season is Maybe late May through September. Imagine financing a 90k speedboat to use it maybe a dozen times per summer

I've tried to get into it but the lack of passing makes it kinda dull imo. They should also make better use of static cameras to really show how fast those cars are going. That would add some excitement but I'm guessing when you can't even make out the advertisements on the cars it translates to less money.

I mean it's cool to own a boat I guess, and if you're social it's a great way to entertain chicks who love that ish. But I never saw the appeal of owning a boat just to post up in the bay, drink, and jump in the water occasionally. It makes more sense if you own one for fishing, or watersports, but I know a ton of guys who own boats that just launch, tie up with each other, and drink on the water. Seems like it'd get really old really quick.

But like Jestbrah said, there's nothing wrong with spending your time doing something you enjoy. like that guy who said he doesn't get why people ride motorcycles on the street. Street riding is free compared to track days, plenty of lesser used roads where you can hang it out without endangering yourself or other people. and lol @ revving their engines at stoplights. people don't do that as a hobby, they do it for attention. Many people who go for street rides aren't obnoxious about it. A lot of people also consider it an easy way to decompress, or distract themselves temporarily from problems in their life.

Yeah, I mean.... There's obvious issues with passing, DOMINANT teams, etc.... This year I wouldn't be surprised if Max wins every single race until the season ends DED FUKIN SRS....

But if you start to analyze drivers of the same cars (Russell VS Hamilton), you have a new perspective to look at, and you can bet on this stuff with apps.

I was OBSESSED with F1 as a kid during the 1998 season, and it's funny because all the same debate still exists today because people don't understand that it's a contest of ENGINEERING. The drivers are a DISTANT second place to the engineers.

In that regard, it's fascinating IMO.

Yeah I've always understood the importance of the car itself in those races but it so often becomes an hour and a half of follow the leader with the qualifying laps almost being more important than the race itself.

They have been combating that stuff now with grid penalties for lack of car reliability, which has been SICK.

Max starting in 14th and winning, 10th and winning, etc.

I'd like to see them step up the strict grid penalties because it offers an entirely new level of strategizing/engineering.... Do you want a fast car, or a reliable car?

This year RedBull is just hammering everyone, and it's fun to see IMO.... If you have an inkling of what's happening behind the scenes.

golf can be all things to all people though. For some its social, for some exercise, or communing with nature, or being a tech head with the gear etc. For me its the technical side of building a repeatable swing. I don't even need an actual golf course

i read about that awhile back, believe it or not, static cameras are not popular with viewers, so they don't use them very often

Yes I've tried stamp collecting a few times, but it's really aggravating that I called it quits. Trying to determine the proper color tint, perforations, ink marks, etc is an absurd waste of time and will drive any sane person nuts. Organizing and storing them is also a headache and in the end they rarely hold their own value anyways.

Always had fun collecting coins and baseball cards for building sets or reselling, but stamps I just end up throwing in a drawer and not dealing with.

I don't collect anything, but there's definitely something about old/vintage stuff that I really like - I can't really explain it though. I can definitely understand why people are into collecting older stuff (comics, stamps, coins, antiques of any sort, whatever).

Yeah I mean I can totally respect collecting old media, because it's something that you can really enjoy. Like you don't just look at old records, video games, you can listen to/play them. Old comics can be read. Coins and antiques and chit, I mean I guess that's more for decor and just private interests.

Thing I don't get about hunting and posing with the dead animals is it's not like you beat them fair and square. You shot them from a distance with a rifle.

Like if you wrestled a bear and gutted it with a dagger then slit it's throat while keeping it in a headlock, you ****ing earned it, celebrate the kill. But gunning down a little deer from a distance? come on brah
