Detox - for the skin too, sublime. Skin care important for guys too btw.
A good 'stressor' - it feels so good, Aufguss especially. And a nice cold shower after.
After some workouts I'll shower and then go to the sauna, then rinse again in the ice cold shower section.
I come out with glow - trust it.

I love saunas, but I'm a little traumatized that a gay guy let his towel drop and had a half-hard weiner. (srs story)
I wish I was good looking enough for him to be fully hard though.
Saunas are supposed to have some cardiovascular benefits from dilation and constriction of your blood vessels (I'm not sure the actual science so Google that), but I do think it also improved my skin. And it just feels good.

Always wondered if saunas or steam rooms are more beneficial..old gym had both
Edit-good info here...
"The benefits of heat for the body are the same regardless of whether it comes from a dry source or a humid one, meaning the benefits of saunas and steam rooms are pretty much the same too. These include:
Stress and anxiety relief
Increased blood flow to the skin
Reduced blood pressure
Improved circulation
Relief from achy joints
Immune system support
In addition, steam rooms help open the lungs which can help with respiratory troubles.
Sauna vs. Steam Room: Cost
Here’s how the costs break down according to FIXR:
Average cost for a two-person sauna: $2,900 ($1,400 for the unit plus $1,000 to $2,000 for professional installation)
Average cost for a two-person steam room/shower: $3,300 ($1,000 to $5,000 for the unit plus $1,170 to $2,000 for professional installation)

I added an IR sauna to my homegym about 3 months ago (High Tech Health TR-2). I bought an older model used, for much less than retail. Figured if I didn't notice any benefits, I'd just flip it.
I got curious because of podcasts with Andrew Huberman, and Rhonda Patrick.
I've been using it for 15 min after my workouts, followed by a cold shower. I do a full body split 3x/week.
I've noticed better fatique mgmt, and recovery. Also, my joint discomfort after workouts all but went away., especially noticeable in shoulders and knees.

But infrared or traditional? And cliffs on ideal temp/type? Read 150 to 175 is where you reap the most benefits. Then there's the whole issue of hitting 150 to 175 with a 15amp circuit (not needing an electrician to install). I know one so I guess it's not a huge issue.

The place we go on vacation to has a traditional sauna. Use it 5 days out of the week we're there. Obviously I can't comment on long term benefits but I will say it is a great hangover cure.

hate them, seems like they'd just dehydrate you. Can anyone provide links to some real research/benefits? Not because I'm doubting necessarily; I want to enjoy them but I just remember my chest feeling uncomfortable after coming out a few times, freaked me out.

Continued hiking the next day. Also various skin benefits. I have a lot of sebum production and it helps clean the pores out.hate them, seems like they'd just dehydrate you. I've never really had a bad hangover but have always made sure to drink a bunch of water before going to bed after drinking, then usually wake up half way through the night, piss, and drink another one. Try to get a snack to help replenish electrolytes too. Feel fine when I get up the next day.I noticed it can really help a hangover, yes.

I should say that I do like the idea of the skin benefits etc. I always forget to use the one in the gym afterwards.
