I don't think people realize how hard it will be to repair the Nordstream pipeline
Here is a video of what it took to construct a natural gas pipeline from Norway to Great Britain. Watch this and realize how fuked repairing the Nordstream pipeline will be.

I know a few other brahs in here who work in O&G and likely have an idea what would be involved, I've personally been on several projects doing crazy chit with spools as large as 48" and was working on Keystone XL on the Canadian side before the project was axed
The question is why it would be repaired
The question is why it would be repaired

I worked at Nordstrom for a couple years way back when, it was easier being a stocker than on the floor with sales. But still it wasn't that difficult OP, you must be dumb

If you watch the video in OP, constructing the pipeline was just barely possible when they were doing everything above water and then slowly laying the pipes in a controlled manner down to the sea bottom. Going down and trying to repair sections is a whole different ball game.

It's pretty simple really. Just drain the ocean around it, repair it, profit?

I've been on projects where we even cut into pressurized lines for repairs in operating plants, although it was above ground. We used liquid nitrogen to freeze the contents on both ends of the section to be repaired before cutting in and installing the new chunk.
There are companies who specialize in doing such repairs

All that saltwater intrusion and subsequent corrosion would make it nearly impossible to repair. But I'm not a materials engineer so who knows...

However, the winter season is coming which means bad weather, which makes repairs more difficult.

I'm a natural gas pipeline welder. Problems I see, getting the water out of the line. Are we talking yards or miles of pipeline that is full ? If they can keep a positive pressue in the line to prevent water from getting in and clamp the leak they well be ahead of the game. If the line goes to zero pressure and fills up, big trouble

From what I have read, it may not be repairable if salt water has been inside the pipe long enough to start corrosion.

Also if you get a slug of water to go down stream and get in equipment designed to handle a compressible gas and not a non compressible liquid, stuff breaks. Sea water is highly corrosive. Time wise it's not so much that the pipe is bad in a month, it's more the pipe is bad in 20 years when we needed it to go 100 years to be profitableDo you know how long sections can go without repair before the seawater corrosion completely destroys the pipe? 4 to 14 percent gas to air mixture is when ignition happens. If you fill a room with 100 percent gas and light a match it won't go boom . You need oxygen.

L450 pipe will withstand the salt water for a little while before corrosion is the main concern.
