This is what it looks like when someone has no answers to a post. Children do the same thing: they say something, then hold up hands to their ears and shout "I cant hear you" after someone responds.

It's great you have a belief in a higher power, but there's just not good evidence for it.

That's it.

I have been asking him to for 20 years and not a thing. How can a god that wants people to believe in him never show himself? How can such a god allow children to get terminal cancer or people be born into slavery and torture? Like I said, your god and religion suck.

You have two choices. Blindly believe in a series of random coincidences that happened in such coincidental perpetuity, or be smarter by admitting that humans aren't the pinnacle of intelligence.

Jesus did actually kill a boy in the Infancy Gospel of Thomas. The text was wide spread among early Christians but the councils took it out of the religion.

Although, in Eastern Orthodoxy and Traditional Catholicism Jesus did kill all those in Sodom and Gomorrah. he was one of the 3 angels. The 3 angels represent the trinity, the son, the father and the holy spirit.

So Jesus did kill. It just depends on what millennium you live in or what denomination you follow. JFL

I'm agnostic, actually. I enjoy reading all sorts of philosophies.

As for my life decisions, I have nothing to shy away from or be embarrassed by. I've lived, thus far, a good life, I've made healthy decisions, looked after my spouse and children. I've retired my parents, and the in-laws too. 20% of my net on the company I ran supported various charity initiatives, I regularly give and have good community relationships in Manhattan with a few organizations and have set up 3 boxing gyms in low-income areas. The worst things that I have done is to speak to people in a rude manner, use language that is sometimes homophobic, sexist etc. But it's context dependent and mostly in places like this. Not saying that it is acceptable by any means, but what I am saying is that if your God of loving kindness exists and judges me for not believing in him, he is a cruel and unjust gimp. I would gladly die instead of worshiping that disgusting creature.

Plenty of evidence that there is a Creator, all of which I have demonstrated throughout this thread..Darwinian evolution however has no basis in reality.

My point is more people find comfort in believing there isn't a God than Christians believing there is a God. You think I want there to be a hell? Absolutely not.

Your comments are judgmental. Be careful with that, else Jesus will tell you he doesn't know you on the day of judgment.

And your poverty interpretation of Gehenna is very stupid. God is not just if he punished finite sin with infinite torture. It's sadism actually.

Do you understand what happened when the Bible was removed from the Public education in 1963?

teen rape, dropout, murder, drug use, pregnancy, lower test scores, STD's and even divorce skyrocketed..

but yes.."we are much better off" SMH.

When you teach a child they are nothing but animals and come from nothing, are we really surprised when they act accordingly today?

This is just Karl Marx's 'religion.. is the opium of the people'. It is the opium for life's suffering, and gives them hope ("well my life might be trash in this world....but dont worry, in a world to come I'll be rewarded for believing").

This shows to me the way to move societies as a whole from the influence of religion isnt so much explaining why their belief is irrational, absurdity of faith without evidence etc (bible thumpers wont be swayed by rational arguments either way)....it's just as, if not more productive to increase that well-being of the society- better healthcare, schools, quality of life, happiness factors, less crime, etc. With a more healthy society- less crime-ridden, less conflicts, more overall happiness, there is less of a need for many to turn to religion and ancient stories for solace, less of a need to deny basic scientific facts like evolution in favor of pseduoscience like Intelligent Design in the science classroom. Maybe we should work on that.

Ever look at it as a test in faith? A true Christian wouldn't point the blame to God cause they believe this world is temporary. They got dealt a bad hand, which sucks, but if those parents overcame these obstacles from God (or Satan) then their child awaits them in eternal well-being.

This is a disgusting God if that is the case.

Untold suffering. Right now, there are probably people who are being slowly tortured to death in the most gruesome ways imaginable. And this is a test in faith?

GTFO

What could possibly justify it? Just because there might be a "reward" for "ye faithful" doesn't erase the fact that these things happened. Unhinged, sick, twisted. Gross af, Satan should kill God asap.

What's the alternative? God strip us of free will? We ran this Earth to the ground with power and greed even after God's son preached to love one another. You're making excuses for humanity instead of holding them for their own accountability.

If god wants me to believe in him, he needs to show me he exists, instead of having his army of incel bible thumpers telling me he does. Don't you agree that if god is going to punish non-believers, that he should show actual proof he exists instead of having conmen like Ken Copeland and Joel Osteen make money off of his name by grifting gullible Republicans/QAnoners?

With a more healthy society- less crime-ridden, less conflicts, more overall happiness, there is less of a need for many to turn to religion and ancient stories for solace. Maybe we should work on that.
That's exactly it. That's why I support guys like Jeffrey Sachs and others. The concrete goals of improving healthcare, eradicating poverty, educating people, funding and encouraging scientific and technological innovation, and making the world safer will lead to prosperity and reduce the kind of bitter nascent fundamentalism that leads to so many ills of civilization, including crime, nazism/Islamism/other forms of extreme chauvinism, misogyny, suffering, etc.

There are certain aspects of morality that will always have to be extrapolated and cannot be explained using science. For that, we'll probably always have a form of religion as a set of core traditions and ethical principles by which people chose to live. But the fundamentalism and dogmatic antiscientific coercion will disappear.
