Does Misc know about a hacking tool called the flipper zero?
It can scan anything with a wave signal and capture it. So let’s say I’m behind your car and you use your auto remote start , I can capture the signal and steal your car after I save the wave signal .
It works with other stuff too .
This video is 100% real. Like o said you capture the wave signal and save it and you can use it .

I don't think recording an rf signal is revolutionary brother.

Professional car thieves of high-end cars can remotely duplicate the keyfob, they just get close to the front door because most people keep their keys at the entrance.
They even sell signal blocker boxes to put your car keys in:

I dunno if it's that simple. They don't need to use a fixed decoding key every time; if you use time (some internal manipulation of) as an input* to a hashcode generator, and each side (FOB+car) is similarly aware, then the keycode changes with time.
I believe banking FOBs work like that.

You are getting it a little wrong
I did some work for a company developing something to combat this
They are not taking the signal from the keyless remote (lock unlock start)
They are taking the signal from the keyless access portion. (key in pocket pull handle)
Issue with it is it doesn't matter how encrypted it is. All they need to do is extend the range
They are doing relay attacks.
One antenna near the key, broadcast the signal to another and broadcast to the car. (they just need to get near where your key is)
Pull handle and car unlocks because it thinks the key is in range and they car start the car and drive off
This way you do not need to decode or "hack" or break encryption. You are just extending the range
This is only working on keyless access/push to start vehicles. Not vehicles with traditional keys
(they have another huge flaw with those)
Another huge flaw is with current Chryslers vehicles. They are full out hacked and anyone can take them with a tool for $600

At a minimum the FOB should require a manual key press to transmit the signal. If it's not transmitting it's useless to anyone scanning the airwaves.

Thanks. That's just a lazy bones feature. How hard is it to press a button?

After no movement was detected it would not broadcast anymore
That was the customer doesn't need to press a button and can keep the key in pocket/purse
And it is still secure when hanging at home

Just LOL at any modern car not using rolling codes. All of the alarms I installed in the early 90s had rolling codes. Anyways yeah remote start shuts off the second you touch the brakes if the physical key is not in the car. However you would be lucky if someone used this to unlock your car in some areas. In some neighborhoods in San Francisco and Oakland people are leaving their doors unlocked because they got sick of their windows getting smashed. I watched a news report, one lady paid to get her window replaced and they smashed it again the next night lol. So her and all her neighbors just taking anything valuable out at night and leave their cars unlocked. People just looking for electronics, purses, change in ashtray etc.

This must be a new firmware update because I don't remember it working for cars.
