Memphis rap might be the WOAT local scene ded fkin srs. Most of it is such dumbed down garbage. I liked a few Three Six Mafia songs, but overall it’s even worse than Atlanta.

New York hip hop is the undisputed GOAT and it’s not even close. Everyone else falls below the originators.






Lyricism, storytelling, complex rhyming, beautifully crafted sampled beats. New York created art. The dirty south ruined it.

I like both depending on my mood. Maybe because I'm from the south and that Memphis stuff is like, Horrorcore adjacent if you think about it. I love that Horror genre, whether it's Necro (NY) or Tommy Wright III (Memphis).

You kind of just have toget it. It's lo-fi AF, grimy, dirty. Sounds like somebody on a $5 mic in somebodies basement on outdated equipment, and I love it.

Southern hip hop was pretty trash outside of Outkast and some UGK. Outkast is top 3 though.

Nah. Aside from 3 6, Memphis is behind Cali & NY. Hell, it's behind basically the whole rest of the south. Atlanta's better, Texas is way better. Even New Orleans might be better.
