cutting out boozing for past 6 weeks has been unreal

probably the 10th thread I’ve made like this in the past 2 years (ded fkn Srs)

benefits:

-better sleep
-at least 2x more energy
-better, more consistent mood every day with less mood swings (I don’t get mad or annoyed as easily, and don’t let things bum me out)
-way less anxiety in pressure / performance situations (ex: presentations or meetings)
-way more productive @ work (little things at work that I used to just put off, I just do them now.) overall my performance at work is so much better
-wake up generally happy and excited instead of indifferent or dreadful

With all of that being said, I will be getting ****ed up tomorrow night watching the Mets wildcard game (ded fkn Srs)

Nice, it's hard as fuk to get that initial first few weeks in. I had a 6+ month streak in May and then gave into a "fuk it" moment on memorial day weekend and...well ...I haven't managed to get back on the wagon thus far.

I’ve drank maybe 5 times in 6 months. Had to cut it out because booze makes my feet burn for weeks. Something irritated the **** out of my nerves. Much better not being drunk every weekend. I also travel frequently and would get hammered at the end of the day. It’s nice being able to go places and not be drunk every day. Also sleeping much better obviously.

Nice work OP. How much were you drinking per day before?

I'll certainly be drinking tonight as I'll be at the Broncos vs Colts game

probably drinking 6-8 drinks per night 2-3x a week (ded fkn Srs)

To the point where even if I didn’t drink for 2-3 days straight I’d still have low energy and lack of sleep from previous drinking session, so I was essentially living every day feeling kinda crappy

I cut it out for about a week so far. Dropping weight already. I think I’ll continue until Halloween. I don’t want any fat around the stomach anymore, it’s time to shape up.

Damn. That would mess me up. I probably have 1-2 per afternoon after work. Maybe 3 once a week. I don't feel like it messes me up.

I haven't drank in maybe 4-5 weeks. I've just been gymcelling. Extremely boring, would not recommend. I'm gonna go back to drinking as soon as I'm done using supps that are metabolized in the liver.

Its always nice to have sober streaks every so often. I usually do 2 months, every 18 months or so, and I'll try and do a solid cut during that period too. Lets your liver recover and you can get back into prime shape, and just good to give the whole thing a rest

Yeah - I'm not going to lie. There are nights, weeknights especially, where I'm in my apartment at 8pm bored out of my skull. Already put in a good day's work. Already lifted / exercised. Usually I'll either pick up a book, or I'll go to sleep early at around 9pm so I can get up at 6am feeling good (ded fkn Srs)

Realized I was drinking too much about a month ago. Haven’t had a drink in 6 days now and I am sleeping great.
Was drinking prolly 5 nights a week, was maybe 1 rum and diet a night or 4 or 5 a night. Got absolutely hammered at an OSU game a month ago and decided it was time to cut way back, had that shame and embarrassment the next day, dem feels

GJDM. Quitting drinking, especially if you drink regularly / alcoholic levels, will make you feel great. I'd say quitting ciggies has an even bigger boost in wellness.

I'll go long chunks of time without drinking, several months even, then will randomly grab a 24 pack and catch a buzz 4 or 5 times off the thing for a few nights in a row. (Usually working on some hobby projects while drinking.) Then I'll quit again for a few months.

Feel like the beer gut comes back faster for me nowadays.

Im bone sober every year from January 1 to April 30th for my summer cut. I literally notice zero difference outside of the weight loss....

...but Im not a raging alcoholic. I drink Friday and Saturday nights but the goal isnt to get wrecked. I have a 3-4 cocktails unless Im on the golf course of roasting like a pig on the beach.

Of course you are going to see a whole host of improvements if you are an alcoholic and get off the sauce.

Non-alcoholic beer is your friend, brother. I'm on week 5 of no drinks, and it's helped immensely with cravings. But I actually like the taste of beer even aside from the alcohol.
