Edit:Religious faith is far removed from science and math, there is an asymmetry there. The former is typically belief in the absence of evidence, or even more absurdly, belief contrary to the evidence. Science facts are based on evidence. No one goes around saying ‘I have faith in gravity’, they just know that a basketball thrown in the air comes back down. Math is essentially logical deduction from axioms and definitions. No one says ‘I have faith that 21 is a composite number’ in any math class. It just is one, since it equals 7x3. This comparison is nonsensical.

And I get it, it feels good to turn off and believe that something is going to just "fix" things and that one day everything is going to be alright, but its not. Noones coming to help (not supernatural or otherwise). If you lived in some war torn country in Africa or the ME you'd think it was the end of the world everyday, yet half way across the world people are having fun at Disney Land and relaxing on yachts and going on vacations and eating out at restaurants without a care in the world. Its all perspective.
