When people fear for their lives, many will turn to God. Some will resort to superstitions, such as rituals or belief in omens

Fighters participate in life/death situations every time they fight, so it's natural they would turn to religious gods to help them overcome their fear of imminent death

I always LOL though at the overt Christians who fight and thank Jesus when they win. I don't think assaulting people for money is in harmony with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Unless I'm forgetting a Bible verse that states, "Thou shalt assaulteth other men for it will bring thee great fame and fortune" or "Turn the other cheek, then strike back"

Look, Im a Deist. I don't reject spiritualism. If that's that makes you happy then so be it. I don't wish for the world to be non-religious because I know there are large numbers of the world population for whom without the fear of hell would r*pe and pillage the earth. What I have a problem with is the thousands of years of barbarism brought forth by the religions of Abraham, and the whole theme of this thread is a correlation/causation fallacy. There is no "direct" relationship between the two aspects you're referencing. You may as well be arguing that eating peanut butter on whole wheat bread causes algae bloom in the Nile river.

Kind of a side note, but it's coincidentally suspicious that jehovah would conveniently have the same petty hangups as the common man like displaying jealousy or pride by brutally torturing and killing people (the story of Job for example) just to prove a point to satan. It's almost as if... nah, I'll stop for the moment.
